Looking to buy a trail 570 or 900. Gonna be mostly logging roads and farm roads with some trails thrown in. Does the 570 have adequate power? Anyone have experience with these?

Not an owner, but have used one.
My put: If you plan to haul a couple good sized people and want to do some reasonable trails (not just roads) the 570 is marginal.
Spend the $$ for the 900 (or at least something comparable in at least the 750 range.

Jbar, have had our 900 for 2 1/2 years and love it. More than enough power to haul two stinky hunters (rapidly in some cases) around the high country in Idaho each fall. Torque up the wazoo for climbing and pulling a loaded Yukon trailer. I would always recommend going for the bigger engine in any platform. No replacement for displacement ;). Heck, you're welcome to swing by my place if you want a test drive (I live just south of you outside of Ranier). RJ

We will have to talk about this Wapiti. I am wanting to check out Idaho sooner than later. I have a Teryx. I would also recommend nothing small. A 570 is small and underpowered for anything beyond flat roads. 800 and up! The 900 has plenty of hp. Also a 50" might be a challenge on tough trails. I prefer 60" to 64" and 12"+ ground clearance and tires must be 26" or bigger. My Teryx has 2" lift and 2" spacers. Very tough to tip over. I would go xp1000 if I was a Polaris guy.

Go bigger then 570!!! They are pretty low in the power.
I have a 800 can-am that is a great machine. My uncle has a 900 Polaris that seems to be solid so far.
I could not see buying the Polaris with a 6 month warranty. All my Polaris have been money holes.
I got 6 year complete warranty and a 800 defender for less then a 570 Polaris.

Mudman, 50” wide ATV’s are the fattest that are allowed on many of the out of state ATV trails which is one of the reasons the newer trail models are so popular.. Yep, they’re not as stable as the wider dual seaters but believe me, those OOS ATV trails are not maintained to allow for wider vehicles in any many cases. Carpsniperg2, yep…. I got an extended warranty with my RZR and fortunately, have not had to use it. It’s been rock solid which the exception of a few factory recalls (nothing too major), and, the situation recently where I was a dumb “A” and let water condensate in the gas tank (note to all ATV owners, either run non ethanol gas in them or run them all the time to prevent any water condensation in the tank/fuel system). That was a trip down to PowerSports NW in Centralia to get the water cleared out. BTW, those CanAms are great machines! They are all over the place in NE WA and N ID. Not sure about NW MT as I haven’t hunted there in 4 or 5 years. HoytHunter, dandy machine right there!

Sorry I forgot all about this post :sry: The wife and I aren't big people and 95% use will be logging roads 5% trail, was looking at a couple 800's but the HP is only slightly more. 900's while they have exceptional HP I'm not sure it's worth the extra 2k but it is still an option. Needs to be 50" for ATV rated trails this is a must, unfortunate but a must. It's been difficult to find any used 50" machines. @Wapititalk1 I may take you up on that as test rides are difficult to arrange also. I am looking at a new machine at the dealer in Ellensburg so if you have any warnings or praise for this dealer let me know!

Is there a trail width restriction for trails in Idaho? Or is it just trails are mostly narrow? Jbar if your not after the fun factor a 800 is plenty of hp to do most everything. Really anything over 50hp is capable. Check out the Pioneers too. Artic cat are top trail machines as well at 50" along with the Po Po's. Can am doesnt have a locked front diff which is HUGE in my book! Never will I like that! Many of Can ams I have left behind on the tough stuff because of this weakness.

You could use one but you'd be limited as to where you could go.

I really like my 900 Trail, plenty of power and seems stable enough on rough trails, I put on bigger wheels and tires so its a little wider now.

Alcoholic is yours an eps model? My wife will be driving it also so I'm trying to figure out if eps is needed or just an extra $1700

Mine is Not EPS, a friend has it and he said he doesn't think he needed it...And I am an ELK aholic.. :chuckle:

The Polaris 570 motors have more HP than the Yamaha 700's. (and the 450's run the same motor as the 570 just tuned differently) That said, if you have no problem with the price jump, more power is better (and safer) than not enough. :twocents:

Thx JB! Been doing my research and I think for what we are doing with it we'll be safe either way. We have decided that EPS is a must and would rather put our money towards that than the extra power but if the right deal comes around the power will be a plus.

Just remember most of your Hunting buddies are bigger then your 80 pound wife. You might need to haul their fat ass up them steep chukar hills. Im voting for more horse power

My buddy had a rzr 570 and it has all kinds of power and him and his riders aren't small people but my cousin had the 900 and it was super fast. If money wasn't an option I'd go bigger with the 900. More power is always better.
