They just posted an article today to explain why it takes so long, I am betting July now.Seems like they make it way more complicated than it should be in this day and age. With that being said, after reading the article, my guess is July 6th. So next Thursday. That gives them a full work day after the 4th to finalize things before posting the results.

The week after July 1 is the 4th, which falls on a Tuesday...my knowledge of government offices leads me to believe they will want this wrapped up before everyone heads out for a long holiday weekend! :chuckle:

I drew unit 18 elk
Using horses ? Be prepared to see more people than you have ever seen hunting. Had that elk tag once and was floored by how many people were there. I had multiple spots scouted and every spot had tons of people. Then ventured into wilderness and was passing people like I was walking in a city park. I was told to kill a elk in the first 3 days or it gets super tough. That was true we saw elk everyday the first 3 days and they were gone. Spotted lots in wilderness but they were so far down it was impossible to pack out and some you could t get horses near them.

Using horses ? Be prepared to see more people than you have ever seen hunting. Had that elk tag once and was floored by how many people were there. I had multiple spots scouted and every spot had tons of people. Then ventured into wilderness and was passing people like I was walking in a city park. I was told to kill a elk in the first 3 days or it gets super tough. That was true we saw elk everyday the first 3 days and they were gone. Spotted lots in wilderness but they were so far down it was impossible to pack out and some you could t get horses near them.

18 is pounded the first week of the season then it's almost a ghost town the last week but be ready to look low if you still have your tag at the end of the season
Good to hear , plan is the wilderness. Will be there the entire length of season . If there is elk I think I'll find them.

Has anyone received their OIL refund yet? The website says refunds have been issued, but I haven't yet received mine. :dunno:
My $2100 OIL refund finally showed up today. Draw results were posted 5/17, so the refund took exactly six weeks. I had my WY refund back on the credit card in two days. :rolleyes:

Try getting off the trail systems and you will find yourself without company. A little tip for ya :tup:

I was far off trails . Every finger between heavens gate to cold springs had wall tents on them ! Every spot I scouted for elk had multiple people crawling over them. None of these spots had trails into them . We did find lots elk later in the season down in the wilderness portion , but the quality of Bulls was not there to be packing a 270" bull 3-4K feet straight up for days .
