Drew Pogue late tag. Does anyone have experience with this hunt?
Thanks
-
alot of it burned up. Seen a few in late archery but really dont hunt it much now.
-
I understand it burnt a few years back but has anyone some general advice on a starting point. I know it is weather dependent i will scout come later this summer. It seems a tiny unit in comparison to others. Looks like the SW area may be the place

ive hunted right out of green lake but didnt see much. This was before the burn. Neat area thou

This is a good tag. Couple friends had it two years ago and did well. You have to wait for the migration which is like a lot of other popular unit weather dependent. Lots of areas to glass.

I was over hunting the Chiliwist and Pearrygin units last deer season, but spent a day driving around in the Pogue. It was surprisingly unburned. Four of us drew the late Pogue permit in 2012, and it looked pretty much the same as it did then. I would suggest spending some time in the Scotch Creek area, especially later in the season.

Oh of course we did, 4 bucks, but nothing that's hunt-wa worthy.

Good to hear it was spared the burn. I drove thru the akili lakes chain and it was a charred moon scape
-
It burned. But it recovered fast.

If you say so!

It did recover fast
-
Are you guys talking about deer numbers or bitterbrush? Cuz neither has came back yet!
-
Anyone that says it has recovered needs to come and look at my property. I have 70 acres and not a tree lived. All the sage and bitterbrush is gone. If fireweed and 10% of the deer is recovered I guess we are recovered.
Good luck with your tag though.

I've hunted the Pogue for several years. Last year I was surprised at how many deer I saw. Fewer than normal but still saw at least 5 legal bucks a day, lots of does, and a few whitetail. Some areas were really burned and some not so much. I can believe that some residents suffered more loss than others.
