Just curious what y'all's thought might be regarding the south side of GMU 460, above 490, for elk this season. I know it's a difficult area to climb up into, but before moving out of the state, I found my climbs rewarding. It just finally warmed up enough to get up there without fear of injury. I plan to head over there this weekend to do some scouting, but figured to ask prior to making the trip from central Washington.
I've got places picked out for deer and bear already and just need to find somewhere to see some elk over the next several months before the season opens up.

Well, the elk I've seen in that area stick close to the river bottom. They show up at the Cascade golf course once and a while. Around North Bend, too. Up the Middle Fork on the private holdings. I've seen them up on Forest Service along the river. If you bow hunt and scout a lot maybe you can ambush one. Too thick for me. Always hear about someone getting a big one around North Bend. Gotta really put the time in scouting and making friends.
