Title: Goes crazy
Post by: Commando on June 28, 2017, 05:19:18 PM: Anyone got any pointers for getting a dog to calm down when he thinks he's gonna get in the truck and go somewhere? My lab goes nuts when he thinks we r getting ready to go somewhere and it's starting to drive me nuts the way he acts

Get me chocolate!" At least you can teach your dogs some commands. Count yourself lucky to have beings that are so excited to go wherever you go. :tup:

We ad the same issue with our GSP. We started to randomly act like we are going somewhere, get keys, put on coat and shoes, etc. then we'd just sit on the couch or go about our day. We use the same routine over and over, regardless of leaving or not. After a couple weeks he started to calm down and just watch us. Worked really well.
Now, if the guns come out, that's a different story.
