I'm looking for something under $500. Preferably around the price of the one you originally posted. That was a hell of a deal!

That price is about where a "decent" AR should be. The design and engineering has been there for half a century. The forging and machining of the receiver parts is easy for shops that are set up. The basic rifle will shoot well in spite of all attempts to screw the pooch.
W/O our government getting involved a really pretty nice AR should cost in this neighborhood.
Your vote counts. If Hillary won it would be a thousand dollar rifle.
Putting one together is cookbook and all that really matters is the trigger and if you want to win matches the barrel. It is a really idiot proof design once a quality pair of receivers leaves the manufacturers and even with a third or fourth rate barrel they will put five rounds into two inches at a hundred yards.
