Hello everybody,
I was hoping to get some advice for a new elk load for my TC. I used to muzzle loader hunt years ago (before they allowed copper bullets). I used to shoot 310 gr lead bullets and 150 gr of pyrodex pellets with number 11 caps. I was just checking to see if anybody had any "real world" experience with new bullets and powders.
Thank you for your time and advice guys.

sorry not a copper bullet.
One of my hunting partners has a Black Diamond, we load it with a 370g TC maxi ball with 80gr FFF black powder. elk killing load for his gun. Good Luck!

I'm considering trying loose powder, I've heard it gets a better burn and more consistent. I've only really used pyrodex pellets and like the convenience of them. Thanks for the info!

I use 250 grain tc shockwaves with the superglide sabots pushed by 110 grains of Pyrodex select. Have killed a few elk and it is very effective. German musket caps also. I shoot the tc black diamond xr......great gun....I own 4.

Great thank you. I've had a few people now recommend loose powder instead of pellets. Looks like I'll be doing some experimenting.

120 grains pyrodex, 400 grain Hjarvester hard cast lead, German musket caps. I love this load out of my black Diamond, but the elk hate it.
