Its like a tinderbox up there. Good info bone.
-
It was about the only big timber left up there. Some very pretty country. Its managed to hit fire scar now on both sides.
-
Confirmed yesterday that it's hit the Lost River. Here's hoping it doesn't go up the other side, Rampart Ridge. That side of the Lost is unburnt and a great area to hike. I was just in the area a few days before the fire. GRRR! >:( >:( >:(
-
Seems impossible but I hope the authorities catch the meathead who started this fire.
Air quality in the Methow this morning is dangerous.
-
Seen some video, its ripping pretty good. Hopefully its not like the entiat and they shut it down for 30 years.

Looks like the estimated containment is Oct 15. Do you think the high buck for the Pasayten will be shut down completely like they did 15-20 yrs ago?
-
Heard about a lot of fires all over the place, hopefully can get some rain or at least calm winds to help crews contain them.

With as bad as shape as the herd is in, It would not be a bad thing.
-
if the fire continues to move east, it will be a bad deal for the high hunt and the outfitters who depend on their clients to pay for winter hay.
A big early August rain storm would be reason to celebrate for us, Winthrop and the outfitters.

Holy moly!🔥

I guess it's out of the Pasayten now.

They better get out in front of that thing with some serious work.

Irony is, while short term it will suck big time, long term the forest and the deer will be healthier if these fires are allowed to just burn (unless threatening communities). It's the excessive intervention in fires that has lead to the huge conflagrations of the last 10+ years. There's too much fuel load allowed to build up so rather than lots of fires in the dozens to hundreds of acres at a time you get massive 10,000-500,000+ acre fires that devastate huge areas for years rather than series of small fires that actually improve habitat.
-
I agree with that. Just don't want to see it get huge and go barreling into town like a unstoppable freight train and usfs standing around wondering what to do now.
-
I'm kind of in the diversity section and since 3/4 or more of the pasayten was burned recently and 50 percent of the valley is burnt, I'd like to see a few timber left standing. There some beautiful pine down in that valley. I'm just glad I had the priviledge to hunt that country before it burned.

Got at trip with Steve and Jess in September..fingers crossed
-
Good luck Mountainman, So far Andrews Creek remains open and all of the country east of there; Steve and Jess would still be able to get you into most of their High Hunt areas. Brian's area is most affected. Hopefully the outfitters will be able to find a good spot for his hunters. The Methow outfitters do what they can to take care of each other. Good idea to keep an eye on the inci web reports and closures.
