I got a picture message of a cougar supposedly killed near shelton. Said it wieghed over 300 pounds and will be new state record. Can anyone confirm this and if it is true share some better pics. This is one I will have to see to bielieve.
-
Ya Right!
-
:yike:
-
Kahuna, if you are going to make a post like that you should show the pic. A 300 lb black bear is a lot less likely than most think let alone a cougar.
-
Probably that one from North Bend area from a few years back that's been circulating around the internet with claims of being killed in several different states.
-
Ya Right!
I don't know... you can really bulk up if you are feasting on Seattle hikers... :chuckle:
-
Is this the one you are referring to? If so, it's been on here before (It was taken a few years ago). Although it is one BIG cat, it certainly does not weigh 300 lbs.
I know there's a thread here about it and the story behind it. (This is the same one that Bobcat is referring to)
-
That one was on the boone and crockett website. was not 300 lbs though.
-
If I could download I would, not that tech savvy, sorry,. Saw the pictures of the one from northbend, looks like a different cat. I myself call B.S. also, just was wondering if anyone else got the text pic or not. I kileed some nice cats and have hunted with brother with hounds quite a few times never heard of or seen anything close to this size of cat.
-
Here is the info from B.C. website on the cat agchawk posted:
The truth is that it was taken in King County, Washington in December 2002 by Roy Hisler with one shot from a .30-06. His partner, Jim Hackewitz, used a varmint call to bring in the big cat taken within 6 miles of Bellevue, Washington (a major suburb of Seattle). The cougar was accepted into the 25th Big Game Awards at 15-7/16.

No prob, that thing is a beast, and only had 3 paws to boot!

:yike: That is why I carry a sidearm when bowhunting
-
That is the one I got also, 300lbs? Nice cat though
-
I saw a pic at Sportsmans in Lacey with a bigger head then that and I know it was only near 200#.
Nice cat, but not 300, not even 200 I bet.
-
Nice cat regardless. I wouldn't mind seeing some better pics of it. So was it really killed near Shelton??
MS
-
the guy and the cat are long arming :dunno: nice cat for sure.
-
I've tagged dozens of cougar, and network with guys who in total have registered thousands from the western states. Heaviest weighed cougar I know of was 210lbs. My understanding is the North Bend cat was 201 and a fraction, with a belly full of deer. Biggest I've touched personally were big toms that weighed 170-180lbs.
Not saying it's impossible, BUT a cat of that size would be in the league of a 900lb black bear, a 700lb whitetail, a 50lb steelhead or a 120lb chinook.
-
Huge cat, but I've seen paws that size on cat's at 180lbs. They look bigger than they weigh. A friend of ours once held the State archery record for cougar, now he's at about #7. His cat weighed right around 200, or just under.
-
I have a friend who used to have two tigers, the female at 12 years old weighed about 350, can't imagine a cougar weighing close to that but :dunno:
-
hey doublelung wanna take me cougar hunting ?
-
It was a 210 pound cat that had just eaten a 90 pound jogger. :chuckle:

My bad - former employment slang. I should have said I've REGISTERED or SEALED dozens of cougars - not TAGGED. I've not hung my own TAG on a single kitty!
-
Big kitty.....But I don't see 300 lbs either.
-
what is that in the background? ;) might not be the best place to take that photo whether it is a coincedence or not
-
IMO there's 0% chance that thing is remotely close to 300#s. I agree w/ many who have posted.... probably not 200.
Does anyone else think the guys head in the photo looks like it was editted in.... ???

My sentiments exactly. 100% from the no way it's 300lbs to the edited in face.
-
A 200 pound cougar is like a 35 inch mule deer. Couple out there but not likely. A 300 pound cat is in Africa not in NA.

I was wondering about that Rick. If it was who you thought then the cat would have only been about 50 lbs. LOL
