Ok so time to ask some of you more experienced trappers what kind of live traps work for Raccoons? Needs to be live trap so I don't hurt any neighbor critters if they are nosing around.
I have tried the harbor fright style live traps which catch raccoons, they just do not hold raccoons. I have a video of him in the trap and was out in under 10 seconds. Traps are not strong enough and he just forces out through trap door.

I use good ol hava hart single door cages for coon size
But now he's going to be a little trap smart
Use a shiskabob skewer and spear 3 marshmallows on and drive it down in the dirt at the back of the cage that way he can't reach through and just grab them and the pour some strawberry jelly over the marshmallows and coon on
You won't catch cats with that bait

Jakeland is right, that should be tempting for a raccoon and the trap sturdy. I bought a Harbor Freight trap once a long time back and set it up with a trail camera aimed at it. A 'possum walked into it and in a couple minutes it slipped out. I hosed the trap - didn't want to put it in my car with 'possum **** - and returned it to the store. They took it, money back for a better one. Some times cheap can be good, but that wasn't.
Good Luck to You,

Tomahawk Pro Series cage traps.
With one of those you should be able to trap at least 50 raccoons without any of them escaping and have very minimal damage to the frame or pan.

Thanks all I will investigate the traps suggested to figure out where I can get one.
Not worried about cage smart as he has been in one at least 3 times and keeps coming back. I think because he feels he can just push back out when ready. Twice he was trapped on camera and both times would escape and then just stare at the trap like he was considering going back to try again :chuckle:
Time to move game cameras out to Elk country and get a real live trap!

Right on good luck !

I think I have caught one or two :chuckle: raccoons before
