You have plenty of time to acquire a real set of antlers. Either in a garage sale or online. Maybe check with a local taxidermist too. Look for a set with better than average mass. If I had to go back and buy the set of sheds I found in the woods, knowing what they have done for me, I'd pay over $1,000 for them.

What he said.... but, check out the local antique stores.  They more often than not have some old deer antlers that you can get for pretty cheap.. Cut them sharp tips off and have at it!

I have a set I'll send to you for $500

Or I could send you a set N/C if you pay the shipping

Not trying to thread jack but whats wrong with a rattle bag?
I've seen them at cabelas. I've seen them used successfully on hunting programs.

I have been able to bring in and harvest Blacktails by rattling them with a rattle bag.  It came from Sportco and was a Primos product.  It has a soft outer container and plastic logs inside it.  I cannot speak for real antlers because I have a hard time finding sheds.  The bag has worked in multiple seasons for me.

My :twocents: is nothing sounds even close then the real deal and if they are real dry soak the horns in water for a day or two in other words listen wisely to 3nails

Sorry it was not a Primos product.  It looks like the Flextone Battle Bag from the link Hunter 399 provided.  Good luck.  I halted a nice three by three Blacktail in his tracks with the rattle bag.  Came right in under my tree.

Not that I've had much success rattling with real bone or a bag, but a rattle bag is much easier to carry around.

....and those little plastic jobs like the Nate and Hale pack well - I've had quite a few bucks respond to those.

Don't get these

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Rack-Rattling-Antlers-Instructional/dp/B007SWL7A0

I trashed my hands because I rattle hard but I grind them harder and I can't get the good grind noise with them, also they're too big.
The rattle bags are just as good as these but aren't as good as the real deal, I like a heavy beam 3 pt. I sawed off the eyeguards and grinded the tips down some  (whoa that stinks)

I get excited rattling in bucks

I switched from the real thing to a rattle bag. Same results easy to carry. Although and I swear by the rattle I still combine it with scents and calls, both grunts and bleats. The fun is in the experiments.

This, times two.  Rattle bags can and do work, but I have had best results with actual sheds soaked in water for at least a day.  With the antlers, you can add a lot of nuance (grinding, hard hits, light sparring, etc.).

If you can't dig up real antlers any other way, here is another place to try:

And yes, 3nails is a great authority on rattling techniques!  I owe my whitetail buck from last year to some of his sage advice.

I just bang my arrow around in my rest  :dunno:

I've heard that authentic rattling sequences also require thrashing the ground and brush, so occasionally I'll stop banging my arrow and roll around on the ground, do jumping jacks, and bang my head into trees.

Some say it won't work, but I've killed just as many big bucks doing that as I have with a real set of antlers !!   :twocents:

Wow.  Placed an order 25 minutes ago.  Today.  Saturday.  Labor Day Weekend.  I just received an email that my order has been shipped.

You will be pleased with the real thing. For sentimental reasons I'd rather lose my rifle than my antlers.
