Title: NE bear hunting question
Post by: dwils233 on August 17, 2017, 11:46:59 AM
I'm fortunate enough to marry the love of my life this year....unfortunate enough to be getting married in October. Most of my hunting season this year will be disrupted so I wanted to put some effort into a few weekends of bear hunting early on.

I don't mind being unsuccessful. I've scouted a bit east of Usk but haven't seen much fresh sign. I know that 49 degrees north has some bears, and I know the Tiger Pass area has bears as well. I can't focus on both of these areas at the same time......Anybody able to recommend hunting off either Flowery Trail or Tiger Pass over the other? I do appreciate a recommendation very much!

There are bears in the areas you have mentioned. I have had good luck from 49 all the way South to Deer Lake.

I recommend continuing your efforts and scouting NE of Usk. Find the the huckleberries At high elevations and you'll find what your looking for.

Nothing more romantic than getting away for a week in the woods just the two of you.

I would stay north of 49, there tends to be more bears the further North you go.  Get a hold of me and I can give you some.specifics.

I would go with where ever you know the area the best.
I think this will be a good bear year in the northeast corner, got a lot of bear pics on game cams compared to other years.Goodluck.

Thanks for all the advice!

As far as the wedding goes...she wanted an October wedding and I told her I was okay with disrupting this year's season for that-but we have an understanding regarding the anniversaries. If she wants venison in the house (and she does), she'll have to be more flexible about how/when we celebrate.

I think next year we'll be going pronghorn hunting for the anniversary and she's okay with that. I'm a lucky guy

Whoever finds the last berry patch that has not dried out yet will definitely come out on top.

Look up North in Alladin also, don't limit yourself. Congrats on finding the love of your life.

Bears all over ne but food in large amounts... Not so much. Find a good food source and you will find bears. Early September I like to hunt the hawthornes and service berries
