I like your style! recurve? what bow are you planing on using? I think I'm going to give my bear polar a shot at a few this year with some judos on it.

Found a few up around Snoqualmie Pass last weekend...flushed before I ever saw them
-
Saw 24 ruffeds in 1 day of elk scouting in the Blues. 3 broods.
-
Should be the best grouse year we have had for over a decade.
-
How high up are people seeing them? I'm headed into the Colville forest camping this weekend but want to try to kick up a few grouse if I can

Just got back from Curlew. I've never seen it so bleak for grouse (and deer as well). We went out for 3 days straight in morning and evenings and only got 3 grouse between the 8 of us. Really weird, never seen it like that. I'm blaming it on the dry weather :dunno:. A couple of the guys seen a decent bull moose and 2 teeny tiny cubs that looked as though they been waiting for mom a little too long (we think she was probably killed) probably not going to survive too long :'(.
-
We did pretty good in Idaho. 10 in 3 days. Saw several others, they were just faster than the boys.
-
Nice, is that a savage 24 in the bottom pic?
-
Nice job on the birds boys .
-
Dave, I've noticed that none of your pictures have dogs in them. Do you run "naturally"?
-

Yes it is. That is the first bird we've killed with it. It appears that the choke may be a little to "open". He missed with the 22 barrel, then took a shot where most of the bird was covered by a log. It then flew into a tree where he shot it again with the 20ga. Upon inspection, we discover feathers where he first shot it with the 20.

Never owned a hunting dog.
At my age, I'm lucky to be running at all. :chuckle:

I own one and love it for grouse hunting, looking forward to watching my boys use it.

Saw the biggest herd :chuckle: of Blues at about 4500'. Must have been at least a dozen. I'm sure it was a couple hens with their off spring.

Those 24's are cool set-ups, but the barrels are commonly misaligned. One barrel or the other may be on target, but typically not both. You can sight them in and try to shim/adjust them a little, depending on if the barrels are free floating or welded. Good luck.

I took my two boys last weekend, we were in some high elevation. Saw three Blue's. Missed shot. But it was nice seeing them. The boys had .22lr's and I was carrying the .410

Spruce grouse (franklin) and .22 pistols go hand in hand

I am thinking of taking my .22 revolver next time, if I don't go in higher elevation. Trying to lighten the load for wandering around.
-
My favorite is the blue grouse, more meat :chuckle:
-
Went out today on Nile 1600 roads and NF625. It was a bust. Nothing but Elk all over. Boy had the .410 and I had the 12ga
-
Probably one of the best grouse seasons I have seen in a long time. Could have easily limited limited three days in a row but was deer hunting and didn't want to shoot up the hillside. Did bag two large blues though.

Today's grouse harvest was cooked up fresh in a homemade mushroom cream sauce this evening.

I've been testing different wild berry marinades for blue grouse. This one is for dinner tomorrow.
The other 3 grouse i got today are going to be made into grouse jerky once I get a few more.
-
