Title: Newbe to area bear hunting question
Post by: btlsoom on February 28, 2009, 03:53:32 PM
I know, another new person to the area.  But, do you have to submit an application for all bear hunting or is it possible to get a general over the counter.  If you submit an application, are you about sure to get a tag. Do you have to apply for a fall hunt in the spring or do you apply in the fall.  And lastly, does it have to be area specific?  I know this is a lot and thanks for the help.

you can just buy a over the counter combo tag deer/elk/bear/cougar . at the same time you can purchase your special apps. the only one for bear that i know is spring bear, you need to put in for that before the 13th of march, and know the details of the areas you put in for. some are private land

Buf hit most of it but I will try to simplify. These are general ideas and there may be some variance.
Check the new regs that come out in a couple months or so.

Limit is two bears a year.
Only one can be from the Eastside.

Spring season is by permit (drawing) only.
Select units only.
Deadline is March 13th
Season starts April

Fall (General) season is over the counter.
State wide
Westside August 1 opener.
Eastside September 1 opener
