Any one seen it ? I've seen it , but don't wanna post pics . It's all over FB, something seems weird to me??
-
The one where he is wearing an orange camo vest?
-
Yes, archery buck?
-
I was wondering also. I heard a rumor where it was taken but the pic doesn't match what I've seen of the area???
-
Ya I've heard some rumors on location as well - and weapon type?
-
Its a beast  Why does it seem weird to you guys?
-
Dream buck!
-
Huge buck. Congrats to the hunter. Just curious what weapon/tag. Incentive tag maybe?
-
Friend has pics of that buck alive. Was on the hit list of a few people. Is the location a big secret.?
-
I've seen it, I'd like to see a score sheet
-
A permit hunt, is what I read, and there's only one permit I know of where orange is required while archery hunting. So I think I know the unit but could be wrong. Great buck, especially for an archery hunt. That permit just got a lot harder to draw! He should have taken photos without the orange vest!
-
Anybody got a link?
-
It's a stud of a buck for sure

I Haven't figured out how to post a pic since Photobucket pulled the plug.
-
Its a friend of mine who got him. He worked damn hard to kill him, persistence paid off big time!
-
Can we see a pic bugle? A link?
-
Once it's posted on social media/internet it's not a secret. Reminds me of Links monster.
Congrats to the hunter, a trophy of a lifetime!
-
Wow. Monster. :yike:

Mass for days

I was told mid 230s before deductions :dunno:
-
Great deer, congrats to the hunter! I knew there was some good deer left in that unit, glad to see some escape the tribes.
-
What's funny is that permit is not even a "Quality" permit.
-
What's funny is that permit is not even a "Quality" permit.
No kidding, talk about under the radar.
-
Not any longer, lol
-
I haven't seen anything out there like that for years. Certainly has the potential. I didn't even get my access permit out there this year.
-
He's got it all...
Well done!
-
I could use some of that in my life right about now.
-
Congrats to the hunter! Monster buck!
-
:o Wow! That's a beast!
-
Yikes! Salute to the hunter. It's interesting there's not even a stitch of velvet. Is that normal this time of year?
-
I'm not sure I could ever hunt deer again after taking something like that.
-
fantastic deer!
-
That is a great buck. I would love to get a chance at one if that caliber. Congratulations to the hunter and yes, i wish he wouldnt have taken his pic with his vest on...keep in mind that there are also plenty of master hunter areas open for elk during that time and you are required to wear hunter orange in those areas as well...

...and one more thing...we have to be careful with our pics...there are so many people that only rely on stuff like this to find their new honey holes...

-
wow- you could quit on that one. congrats.

That is an AMAZING buck. I'd like to even see one of that caliber. Congrats to the hunter. I'd like to hear the story of the hunt.
I think Dale and the Mod's have done a good job with their education and reformatting of HuntWa. This thread would have gone so sideways only a month ago it would already have been locked.

Would be My friend too after seeing that picture. Congrats to the hunter

What a stud buck! Great Job!

Very nice buck, and a hearty congratulations to the hunter!
That said, it definitely has great mass but I doubt it's nowhere close to as big as some might otherwise believe. Please understand I don't want to take anything at all away from this person's archery success, but I would be stunned if this fine specimen went over 200". The tape never fibs, but camera lenses all too often do. ;) Hopefully he'll bring it by an SCI measuring booth so it can get full credit for all the cool bone it grew and not suffer from the deduction nonsense that some of the other scoring organizations push.

Just.....WOW
-
Great buck, I scrolled thru all the comments and naybe I missed it. Why a orange vest ?
-
Probably hunting where it is required even for archery.
-
Thank you everyone for the kind words! I am going to work on writing a story here soon but it was a very difficult hunt and was a true testament to not giving up. I scouted this deer for a month and was able to harvest him on the 10th day of the hunt after having some blown stalks and not being able to get close enough multiple times. He was smart and often times I thought man I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to get this buck! But I just stuck with it and feel thankful and honored to even have a chance at harvesting this buck. I was able to slip by two does and get within 41 yards of him in his bed, got drawn back, stepped out from behind the sagebrush and he stood up as I was locked in on my 40 yard pin. I let er fly and my arrow dissapeared in the perfect spot double lung behind the shoulder. I waited almost an hour to be sure and he was piled up about 250 yards from where I shot . My buddy Trevor guided me into the bushes he last saw him in and as I approached I couldn't believe my eyes. We knew he was huge but had no idea he was as giant as he was. Greatest hunt, buck, and hunting moment of my life. Only bad thing is it's all down hill from here! 😅 lol. He was scored by my taxidermist who is an official WA State scorer it green grossed at 234 7/8ths and with only 3 inches of deductions put him at a net of 231 7/8ths. Of course have to wait for the drying period for it have an official score. I couldn't be more thankful!
-
Had to look again and yup, he is still a monster. Congrats on a great buck and hopefully you're not ruined for life. :chuckle:

Yea but you'll own the state record for a long long long time, just smile and cherish all the moments this buck gives you. :brew:

Now you can go back to shooting those little 3 pts 😊

Awesome.
Thanks for coming on the site and giving a short write-up.

This buck is truly a trophy of a life time!!!! Do you know the age of the deer roughly??? Did you get a look at his teeth? His coloring on his face makes him look on the young side. Hard to see if he has a big roman nose with the straight on pictures. I would love to see a side profile picture of his head. Cool buck with tons of character and mass! Every hunters dream!!! Especially with the difficulty you had getting him with multiple blown stalks and many days time to get him. At the time it was frustrating for you but the memories will be forever! If you just got out and shot him on the first easy stalk it wouldn't be as memorable as all the hard work you put in to get him! Well Done!!!!!
-

Thank you again, I still haven't heard back from the biologist that has two of his teeth, but the taxidermist guessed he was 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 years old, and yes he has a big Roman nose, horns were so big it kind of made it hard to tell how big his body was. Hanging weight at the butcher with the head, hide, legs, and everything else off was 175lbs....So on the hoof he was maybe pushing that 300lb mark...? IDK but he had a huge body too
-
Absolutely awesome! Thanks so much for sharing. Your hard work definitely paid off BIG time! I love to see any hunters success, but especially when they've put in so much time, effort, sweat, frustration, etc. you earned this one for sure!
-
That is incredible!
What a specimen!
-
Amazing buck! I'm massively impressed you took it with a bow in that unit. Do you think that buck lived out there for the entire duration of his life or is it possible he could have wandered in from Hanford?
-

I would say he has probably lived his entire life out there but it's hard to say with all the fires and such who knows....

Insane buck and looks like it was taken close to home here. So is this monster the new state record non-typical? Does anyone know where to see pictures of non-trypical record setting WA mule deer? Can't seem to find pics of them.

Funny thing is another buck was killed a week later that would have come close to beating this record as well. This one probably shatters it, so no matter.
-
As for all time, any weapon. Not in the top ten

Thanks guys. There is that huge atypical from last year (think it's in the 2016 deer thread) shot with a rifle. I wonder how that one measures up.

What an amazing kill. Congratulations.

Ah yes, that was a good one. I thought that was 15 too. Redi's wife's buck was a good one too.
You are probably right Jackelope!

That one is huge as well but the one I was thinking of had reddish antlers and I think it was shot in Pend Orielle or Ferrry county.

Anyone seen a pic or know anything on the #1 nontypical. I'm a Lewis County resident, west side of I-5, and I know for a while the blacktail that was listed as #1 was killed in the county, I think it may be #3 now or something, but I had no idea the #1 non-typical mule deer was a Lewis County buck as well?
Just curious if anyone knew?
-
Well this buck is making the rounds. Was talking to a buddy today who got a text from another guy he knows in Arizona. Apparently the guy in Arizona got it from another guy in Arizona who knows the guy that killed it in ARIZONA :chuckle:.
-
283 out of Lewis county that's incredible.
-
I saw pics of it up on the Umtanum from a guy that knows the guys brother that got it in the Desert unit. :yike:

Excellent Buck....and with archery gear!!!!!! JUST AWESOME.
There was a similar....or larger buck taken this year (or so the story goes) that was a muzzy or rifle tag. I have seen the pics and heard it is really on the down low as there is a ton of controversy. Believe it may have come from the same area....same genetics as they look to be brothers. Anyone seen pics of it?

Mass is by far my favorite feature on trophy bucks. I love the looks of this brute.

Anyone seen pics of it?
yep seen pics. It was the sc raffle tag holder. All legal and on the up and up! Both stud bucks.
We want pics. >:(
