Title: DIY ideas???- how to prevent your rifle sling from sliding off your shoulder.

Post by: JimmyHoffa on September 21, 2017, 08:37:28 PM: If you wear suspenders (for your rain pants), you can get one of those sliding ammo holders and put it on the strap on your shoulder. It will be under the rain jacket, but makes a bit of a stop so the sling doesn't slide off.

Post by: Stein on September 21, 2017, 09:50:45 PM: I sprung the $20 for a decent sling and position it over the pack shoulder straps. If you really want it secure, loosen the sling and wear it cross draw Robin Hood style.

Exactly! Just wish I knew about them 20 years ago. Wouldnt have wasted all that time trying all the other uncomfortable ones!

been running one for years. I don't even own a shoulder sling for a rifle any more

:yeah: I just started last year, but I'll never go back I don't think. Way to easy.

sock for gun and stow it in pack

Of them all I like the boonie packer sling or the rubber sling. I use the rubber sling on my shotgun for trips into the blind. Regular slings slip off my shoulder.

I do this when I need my hands, and I do not want to stow my rifle.

I use to sew a small button on the right shoulder of all my hunting jackets or pack strap.

The Claw Sling also helps to keep from slipping.

Slogan Outdoors http://www.sloganoutdoors.com/ makes a decent rubber sling that stays on your shoulder pretty well if you must carry it that way and will also work as a shooting sling and a very secure double pack strap style sling when you need both hands.

The Gun Bearer drives me nuts, think I would rather leave my gun in the truck than carry it that way again.
