just wondering if anyone here knows someone or that has been a member of the family hunt club and what did you think about it ? thinking maybe of joining but wanted to get alittle more info on it before spending the money.

if you live nearby and have the time to scout and actually get your name on the list/sign up before the other locals and friends of the guy running it, it is worth it.
For most people, its not worth it.
The properties are OK. There is some good goose ground, but getting the properties at their peak is tough. There are some ok pheasant properties. I dont think their duck ground is that good.

I tried Family Hunt Club this last year. It was OK, and the pup ad I had a good time, but it's getting pretty expensive- $1,200 this year to re-new. There were several weekends I wasn't impressed with the fields I was assigned to- potato farms for pheasant hunting? The entire season, I didn't see more than 3-5 birds in a day. Most all of the birds I shot through the season were on public land, so I didn't see the point in renewing my membership. For the $1200, I can go on 5 trips with Echternkamp's and know I'm in a good spot, with a good guide and caller to boot.

Chatted with the guy that runs the Club, he has a pretty good pitch. I too thought 1200 was pretty steep too. Can spend a lot of days with the sled back in the dunes for that kind of money. Even throw a day in at Eagle Lakes and come out ahead.

Hunted there with a friend one weekend in Jan. Seemed pretty tough to hunt exactly where you wanted to. They seem to have a lot of land tied up though. If you know the area, seems like there is plenty of public land.

If your a upland hunter or goose hunter there are some nice grounds. If you a duck hunter there is so much public land with good hunting I wouldn't tie myself to the few good duck ponds they have. $1200.00 will get you a nice little duck boat and motor and you can freelance all over the state. I've hunted the properties a few times as a guest and had a good time, seems to be a pretty good bunch of folks.

I have heard many times that the locals and friends get all the best duck blinds :dunno:

I have heard plus and minus about the family hunt club. If you join, you need to post everytime you go out. That way if you get scewed we all know it is place to stay away from.
BTW, I also looked at it from the last three years. This year at the sportsman show they land holding seemed to be diminish this last year.

We belong to that club for 5 years and every time we requested a field George or one of his friends had it already. We killed more birds on public ground than his. Save your money and hut the public ground! I thought it cost to much when it was $850!
