Title: Donating Meat
Post by: jsuyes on October 04, 2017, 01:12:39 AM
Hi,

My freezer is getting a bit full and I still have a tag to fill.  Is there any Foodbank or organization like Hunters for the Hungry around the Puget Sound Area that will accept donated meat?

Thanks,

jsuyes

I bet a bunch of people will trade you for tag soup.

Most of those organizations only accept it if it's commercially packaged.  The organization I was aware of is long gone, but I know there is another in Kettle Falls if you're up for the drive.

I would check with churches. Some of them feed and shelter the homeless at night, especially during the winter.
When I was living over there, I was aware of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Bellevue feeding and sheltering men in transition. I looked at their website, and it was arranged through the Eastside Interfaith Social Concerns Council. Website: http://eiscc.net/         They have a list of resources that may be helpful...

Thanks for the help.  Ill give those places a call.

To answer another question:  I haven't filled the tag yet.  Ill be hunting the late archery season.  I plan to take an animal and I want to have a plan together for dealing with it before hand.

Make pepperoni/sausage sticks, you'll snack that freezer empty before you know it.   :chuckle:
