Wait........ I thought you couldn't shoot deer with an AR?
Nice buck.
-
Great buck!
-
And I completely hate the chambering! I'll take a Grendel over a 6.8 any day!
Just had to be able to say I've done it.

Nicely done!
But I am confused?
You like it more than the Grendel, but you hate it?
So which do you like?
LOL

6.8 SPC's kind of make me throw up 🤢 in my mouth a litte. Kind of like I do whenever I see a Tikka.
-
Congrats on a good buck! I'm headed out tomorrow after work for Sunday evening, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and hoping to land a good movie myself.
-
Great buck. Congrats! Fun's over. :'(

Nice, you should be eating well this year.
The question is, what are you going to shoot it with?
-
Nice buck .
-
Thanks guys! I just wanted to get the deer deal over with in a hurry so I could get over to Peaches and start sniffing out a bull.
-
good work. That's a nice looking buck. Did you ever pick up a 280AI? I recall you were doing some research a few months back. I can PM you some info if you're still looking for experiences with that caliber.

Sure PM me some info, "Bobcat" spanked my fanny for offending him with a 3 month ban. I failed to realize some peaople are just "Sensative". I'm trying to work on that. I'm not used to having to be so conscious of such things.

Just before the party started.

Did that with a AK47 and open sights when I was on leave from the military in 91. At about 650 yards. Started low and walked them in !!! End result.. cold ones and tenderloins.

I like the 6.8 but my lean towards it was based on availability of factory ammo. What round did you use? I'm currently using Hornady 110 v-max for coyote and took it for bear this year.

I shot this buck with the factory Hornady 120gr SST load. It broke a rib on Impact destroyed the lungs and exited. The exit was smaller than the entrance. I had two magazines on me, one had the factory Hornady 120 SST's and the other had the Factory Nosler SSA 110gr Accubonds. Both loads shot well out to 300 and had minimal difference in vertical impact.
I wanted to try the SST first. I felt at 6.8 SPC velocities I would get good performance from the SST. I have shot two deer with a AR chambered in 6mm-6.8 SPC using the 95gr SST and it's a wicked combo, Bang Flops out to 287 yards.

QUITE A SPECIMEN THAT ONE!

Not to worry, width is overrated, and 27" is nothing to be too upset about. That's a dandy for the general hunt.
Hit that 40" mass mark, much more impressive IMO.
-
Mass is great! I just want something wider than what's on my wall. 👍
I hunt state land. We know that isn't all that easy. Allot of factors come into play come opening day.

Nice buck.
-
Way to go, BH. Excellent buck.
-
Excellent!
I love my 6.8 loaded with the 120 SST's. My wife and son have both taken animals with it. It's a fantastic deer round. This weekend, my son tagged his doe with it in fact. Deer was quartering away headed left, round entered a little far back, but the it went through vitals, exited the ribs on far right side, went through the shoulder and lodged under the skin.
Congrats on a nice buck!
-
Nice buck anywhere, GREAT buck for that area!
