With hunting the way it is in this state, I decided to start the point game again in other states. I have 14 moose and 12 sheep, so I am well invested in that game. about the time my girls are done with soccer, Ill be good to go with moose. Probably just wasting my money on sheep, but maybe when I am 70....

Moose yes, I am a DYI hunter so the Deer, speedgoat and elk are really what I am targeting. I talked to Wyoming F&G and read in Easton Hunting Journal that Wyoming has 38% of the people with max points. So one has to as themselves to be selective.

I argued against the point system in Wyoming, which when first started was for moose and sheep only, and 100% went to max points - at least they improved it somewhat with the random. I was in at the beginning as a resident, drew sheep in 1998 with 4 points and 1 in 8 odds, bull moose in 2000 with 6 points and 1 in 2 odds - and was surprised that year with a mountain goat as well, which is purely random and OIL with 256:1 odds.

Wishful thinking but hoping that by the time I get to elk draws I will have built up a few lope points again and can rotate my application timeline

There are antelope units you can draw with less than five points. In fact there are units you can hunt every year with no points, or draw them as a second choice so you can continue to build points.

I've only skipped one year of hunting Wyoming antelope since 2005.

I know a region with lots of great areas to hunt that guys have been regularly drawing as a second choice. It's a general unit.

All of what @doublelung said is correct.... all of it... and the great thing, the deer don't migrate :yike:
