Title: Insoles for hunting boots?
Post by: The scout on November 01, 2017, 04:54:57 PM
I have been searching for the right insole for a pair of hunting boots I have. So far I have used 2 different pairs and it seems like the arch on them just digs into my foot and is super uncomfortable. is there a pair that is a lot of peoples go to?

Superfeet for me

If the arch seems to much, try wearing them for short periods of time at the beginning and work your way up.

 :yeah:

I have super feet in almost all the shoes and boots I wear. Really like them.

Lathrop and sons insoles work great for me. The superfeet and such are great in tennis shoes and the like but they're just too much in a hiking boot. The Lathrop insoles are wider than your feet and kinda wrap around your foot to secure it in place better and give you arch support. I didn't think much of them at first but the more i use them, the more i like them.

I have the sol mountaineering ones. I had the begging of planter flappy foot or whatever it was called, tried super feet and took them back the next day. these were reccomend to me, put them in the oven at 200 for a few mins or whatever the instructions say. fits perfect to my feet, and fixed my aching arches. highly reccomend for hunting boots  https://secure.yoursole.com/us/mens/footbeds/performance-thick/

Did you pull the thin ones out that came with the boots?  Years ago, I just did one of those things at Walmart or Fred Meyer that you stand on and it analyzes your foot pressure then gives a suggested model.  It worked well for me.

I have been buying the Merino wool SuperFeet.  They are similar to the green superfeet, but with Merino Wool top layer.  I have them in my ski boots and two pair of hunting boots.

Used to us the superfeet until I saw a podiatrist last year who suggested the sofsole brand. Use them in several pairs of shoes and am very happy.

Feet are different, what works for me may not work for you.  There are tools online or at the stores to help figure out whether you need an insole and which one.

I did pull the factory insoles out, but that might be the thing to do is get my feet analyzed for shape or something?

dunno if that was directed to me or not,  but yes I did pull put the orignal insoles. you heat the sol ones up and they conform to your foot for perfect arch support

Superfeet or Fleet feet.  They fit your foot to the insoles in the store.

seems like there are a lot of different models of super feet, how do you know witch one is for you? maybe trial and error is the best way just because everyone's feet are so different?

those look interesting with the little wing that wrap up the side of your foot, I suppose you would either love them or hate them. my biggest problem is the pressure on the arch of my foot. I just can't tell from the wording and pics how much they would pressure that. think I might try them out, they don't look they have one of those high arches

I had achy feet for a long long time. I tried the foot machines they had in stores with no luck. I went and saw a foot doc and for like fifty bucks he looked at my feet, figured out what was wrong just by having me walk down the hall and look at my feet and he sent me home with new insoles.

All in all a pretty cheap way to get an opinion and solution from a professional.

Superfeet. Mine always seem stiff and bit uncomfortable at first. As stated earlier, breakem in around home and they are great.

you can always trim them.

I ran Green SuperFeet for years before discovering Sole insoles.  I prefer the blue colored version.  You pop them in the oven to warm them up.  Once warm and somewhat malleable, you place them in your boots and move around in them for a while to "custom form" them to your feet.  Super comfortable.  They are a weight compromise between the SuperFeet and Lathrop & Sons' insole.

I used to run superfeet for years, but the lack of cushioning made my dogs ache especially after gravel road miles. I tried the Ed Viesturs sol’s and they are perfect. Structure plus cushioning. :twocents:

Listen to Tjv28 and buy the Sole inserts, blue with Ed Viesturs on them. They are way better than superfeet. Buy them to your size
pop them in the oven for 2 minutes, plop them in your boots and stand for a couple minutes. If you don't know who Ed Viesturs is
you owe it to yourself to do a little research!! Man amongst boys!!!

Everyone has different feet and you might even have differences from your left and right. Go get customs from an orthopedist and tell them what you're going to use them for. With my insurance they cost me ~$50 and I've had a pair that I wear in both my daily shoes and out hunting for over 10 years. I tried super feet and another brand I can't remember, they just don't stack up. Just had a new pair made so I can have a back up and not always swapping them between shoes.

Glad this popped up today. Over the years working on concrete everyday, dirt biking etc.. my feet are junk. I seen specialists, had molds, castings and pressure measurements done. All resulted in "custom" made inserts. Hated them all. Every one was worse than going without.
Some years back I saw this foot guy for a toe issue, he noticed the way I was walking. Off come the shoes and he started to kneed my feet with his hands while asking some questions. I thought this was kind of weird, getting a foot massage from some dude but he was watching to see where things hurt.
He recommended an over some cheep, off the rack insoles he said he could modify with a hair dryer. I thought the guy was nuts. All the "custom" stuff and this guy wants me to buy a ten dollar pair of inserts ?
Well I got them. Put them in my shoes and wow! Went back to him two days later, No adjustments needed. My toe issue was caused by lack of proper support on the rest of my foot and the way I was walking as a result.
I cant remember the brand but they discontinued the full sole ones I was getting after a couple of years.
After reading this thread I am going to try a couple that are recommended. I am Hoping one works.

I just ordered these off of amazon for $40.00 after heating them in the oven, molding them to my feet and one day of using them in my boots so far..... holy hell, I’m sold!! These things are awesome! Best 40 bux I think I’ve ever spent on my feet!!
