Hi guys,
Went hunting and got a leak in my boot. Took them back to cabelas to get told the lifetime warranty is nothing more than marketing scheme. So I need some new waders and not willing to spend a million bucks on them. Looking to spend under 200. Where have you guys seen the best deals?
-
Really? I've had nothing but success returning Cabelas brand waders even after several years. You may want to try again. Also, Aqua Seal is fantastic!

Shop Sierra Trading Post, Steep and Cheap, Backcountry.com, and the Clymb. Not sure what your size is but these are a solid deal for larges.

I usually get them on super sale with coupon at Cabelas, always under $100 for camo boot foots. I can get 2 years easy, sometimes three years and agree that either Aqua Seal or Shoe Goo will seal up a small (or large) leak here or there.

I took back my Cabelas waders last week and I picked up my new pair on Saturday from them. Maybe your telling them the wrong thing, when your trying to return them.
If you don't want Cabelas, check out Rogers Sporting Goods to see what deals they have going. If over a $100, free shipping, no sales tax. No sales tax saves you 9.2% right off the get go.

I’m going to call customer service today. The lady told me the cabelas Supermag waders were discontinued so they could only give me the lowest clearance price they ever sold them for of $83. It was a crack along one of the boot seams which is clearly a defect in the materials. I told her I was going to walk back to the waders and see the same supermag 1600 gram thinsulate waders hanging from the wall. She told me that the boots probably changed between 3 years ago and now and so they can’t do anything but give me the lowest price.

I got hosed by Cabela's too. Will never buy anything from them again.
-
If you keep the receipt they will give you back all your money. If not take the 83 bucks and buy from somewhere else.

So, after three years of use, they'll buy them back for $83? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, I usually throw them away after three years.

Three years if I am lucky :o

I would take them back and ask to speak to the manager. Ask that person what replaced your now discontinued waders. Tell them that is what you would like and if it's in stock take it home. If not pick them up after shipping.

I purchased some liquid tape st Lowes. Put it on the boot tops of my waders seemed to fix the leak.I've tried shoegoo liwuid tape is mush easier to use.

Spent an hour with the customer service looking for the receipt and this is exactly it. The warranty covers the receipt, not the waders. I expect my waders to last more than three years. I don’t hunt as hard as you guys do I’m sure. I probably used those waders 20 times. Regardless, i would expect a company that touts a Legendary Lifetime Warranty to actually stand behind it. But since I can’t come up with the receipt, I get 83 bucks towards another $250 pair or waders.

I went through the same problem with a pair of breathable waders that leaked. Since they were only about 1 1/2 years old, they looked up my purchase record and we came to a mutually agreeable settlement, but only because I wouldn't accept what they were trying to do to rectify the problem.
Had a Columbia Waterfowl jacket for four years, it leaked, sent it in and they said they were sorry, but that model wasn't available any longer. Their solution; sent a newer style that was worth twice what my old jacket sold for! Little better customer service at Columbia.

I see your in Pasco (I am also in the Tri Cities). I have had pretty good luck at Griggs out in Pasco, you might check them out. I would have to check the brand, but the waders I currently use were purchased at Griggs for under $200, and are still going strong after 5 years of moderate use (I don't get out as much as I would like).
I was at Griggs yesterday and saw some "sale" signs up over the area with the waders, might be worth a quick trip.

Who told you that? I would have talked to the manager. I had a boot leak after four years. The previous lifetime warranty. I told them they leaked, they told me to go upstairs and grab a new pair. Couldn't find the exact pair, so they had me grab the next best upgrade from those. Absolutely no problem or questions asked. And out the door I went. :dunno:

When was this? The lady in the store at the customer service desk and two of their over the phone people told me all the same thing. No receipt, warranty doesn’t do anything but give me the lowest price.

Cabelas has Herter's on sale for $89.99. Find a coupon for another $10 off and you are in bargain territory.

It was about eight months ago. I just told them I got them for a present, which I did.??? Something sounds fishy. I could see it if the boots looked like they had been run through a rototiller???? But a leak/ A warranty is a warranty in my book. Me being me wouldn't have left the store till I was satisfied.
