Title: elevation for grouse ?

Im looking to go Grouse hunting tomorrow . Im trying to find a spot where they would be this time of year. I have the day off so Im hoping to go to the eastside of the mtns. If anyone has suggestions please let me know . Im not asking for honey holes etc.. Just general areas. Thanks Jason

Blue grouse are going to be up high, since they move up for the winter. They'll be pretty tough to hunt right now. Just getting to them might be nearly impossible unless you use snow shels. Ruffed grouse you could find down low along streams.

So Im quessing ruffled grouse is the way to go? I dont have a dog . Do I stand a chance?

You don't need a dog. Most grouse hunting in this state is done without a dog. Go find some closed roads and start walking.
