I was speaking with an old timer on thanksgiving, he mentioned that the person who released the birds that morning said they were done releasing for the season.. anyone else hear this as well?

Sounds right. Birds were released on Tuesday, Wednesday, and today for Whatcom county this week, with today being the last release of the season.
-
The weekend after Thanksgiving is always the last release of the year in all areas, as far as know.

Seems the same for E.WA, too; got one rooster and missed another at a very busy Fishtrap Release Site.
Virtual non-stop recreational shooting made the noise factor unpleasantly high. I didn't check, but these guys seem to be shooting high volume in the Closed To Target Shooting Zone?

Are they releasing at Scatter Creek this weekend?

I was out there (skookumchuck) today and it seems like they are done stocking for the year. I was there for about 2 hrs and maybe heard 4 shots.

Historically Thanksgiving is the last official release for the season. IF the state has extra birds you may see some planted at the popular sites over the weekend after but that is bird dependent. At least that was the way things were when I was helping with releases years ago.
