Two weeks ago I unexpectedly lost my 3.5yr old brit to a severe alergic reaction to something in the environment. The anaphylactic shock put her into severe seizures that she never recovered from. I’m still heartbroken because she was not only a great house dog, but a hell of bird dog, and an awesome friend..... I told myself after we lost her that I’d take a while before getting another brittany. Well, I guess “a while” is about two weeks. While a new pup will never take place of the one I lost, I’m looking forward to a new beginning with this little guy. Should have him home in a couple weeks.

Cute little bugger. Best of luck with him and sorry for the loss of the other dog.

:yeah:
We were going to wait a while after losing our last dog, Loki, but that wasn't to be. I think it was more than two weeks though.... :chuckle:

Super sad to hear about your loss, i've followed the posts on that one. You know they are gonna crush you the day they come into your life but it's all so worth it. Have fun with that rug rat and keep us posted on the progress.

Thanks guys. His pedigree is pretty stacked as he is out of this years NFC who is also last years NAFC Brittany. With any luck he will be a good one.......In talks with my trainer, he told me he kept the breeding rights to one of the other females from the litter of the pup I lost. Turns out, he plans on breeding that female the next time she comes in. I put in a request for a female from that litter as well, and preferably a roan female, like their mom...... I retired their mom this year after Nationals. At 9 1/2, she put down two of the best runs at the Amateur and Open nationals, but her style leaves a little to be desired at her age. None the less, she finishes her career tied for the winningest 1hr female in brittany history, and also tied for the winningest 1hr All Age female in breed history. She has 26 1hr placements, and 25 of those are All Age placements. No other female in history has the All Age, and total 1hr placements. To say I’m proud is an understatement. I have no doubt if continued to to run her, she would break both records, but I made the decision at last years Nationals that this would be her last year competing on the competitive circuit. Getting a grand-pup out of her is something I couldn’t turn down. Hopefully the litter will have plenty of male and female pups. I still miss my “Rowdy” girl, and it’s going to suck not hunting with, and spoiling her this hunting season, but her memory will live on.

I am in the same boat Jet. We lost our 3.5 year old over labor day. I have been waiting a bit but have my name on a couple of waiting list. Hopefully, this help ease the pain a bit, and best of luck with the new puppy.

I have an older Brit and was lucky enough to find a 3 yr old Brit on Craigslist where the family didn't think he was getting enough exercise. Glad I picked him up he is great companionship for the older one. Its tough to see the older ones skills diminishing but he's still a trooper with the new one running circles around him.

Sorry for the loss.
Nice looking pup, like how much white he has. It makes a huge difference when hunting in the thick timber and sage.

wow that sucks, I did the same thing when I lost my Britt, gave it about a year then a new pup with the same lines.

Jet that's a beautiful puppy I am glad you stuck with the best breed.
