These aren't hunting pics, but since big-game hunting was a bust for me this year this is what I have. I'm hoping to go hunting with the camera soon, but until then .....

This past Wednesday I went looking for a waterfall I’ve heard about but never seen, Panther Creek Falls, near Carson, WA. I did come across about 15 elk, cows and calves, on my way in to the falls, but it was still too dark to get pics. Also, a few other pics near Panther Creek Falls. Again, not hunting pics, but enjoy anyway.

Keep them coming. Great photos!

A few from yesterday's trip in the Gifford Pinchot forest. Did you know they close some of the roads on December 1st? After driving 3 hours I found out I wasn't going to be going where I planned. :bash: It was still very much worth the drive.

Nice pics h4s.
Which roads did they close?

It was my first time in that area and I've already forgotten the road number. I was trying to go into Falls Creek Falls and came to a gate/closed road. Between time constraints and a back that's been having problems lately, I wimped out on the hike and went for easier access pics.

Great pics, what kind of camera are you using? I just picked up a sony A6000 and was trying to get the same water effect that you have this weekend but couldn't figure it out. Any tips on what to adjust?

Thanks colersu22. I'm using a Nikon D810, the camera far exceeds my abilities, but it's a lot of fun. I'm not familiar with the Sony, but if you put it in shutter priority mode or manual mode and then use a shutter speed of 1/2 second to several seconds (depending on how fast/rough the water is) you'll get the smoothed out look on the water. Obviously with the slow shutter speeds you'll have to be on a tripod as well. YouTube tutorial videos can be very helpful too.

They get closed for snow recreation usually. Snowmobiles, snow shoes, and Klik-Kliks . Ranger district will have info on which roads. 99 is usually closed and Norway pass up at Ryan lake could be closed too. I think the upper portion of the Spirit Lake Hwy too. The elk are migrating out of the snow too. They can get pretty thick in the drainages heading out of the blast zone. Used to be great late season hunting. Not open anymore after they changed the unit boundaries. Still would be pretty easy to go find elk if you just wanted to see some.

Thanks, I will give it a shot this weekend. I think trying to shoot it without the tripod was causing my problems/blurry pics, I just got a new head for my tripod and forgot to put it back in my pack after installing it. I am excited to play around with it some more and all the landscape/wildlife pics on this forum help inspire me to get good pics.
