I just saw on the Marlin website that they added a new model to their bolt action line, the XS7. From the vague description on their site I cant tell what's new, or the difference between, the two models. I have read nothing but great reviews online for the XL7 and with an MSRP of around $300, it sounds like a pretty good deal. I've been shopping around a bit and haven't found a gun shop around here that stocks either model. I really want to see one up close and check it out in person. Anyone seen one of these in your local gun shop/sporting goods store?

Without looking at their site, I'm going to guess the XS7 is for short action calibers. >308, .243, ect.

I think it is short action too.
For an inexpensive gun they look really cool. Supposed to be great shooters to.

Yeah, taking a closer look at the specs on the site they added a few short action calibers and changed the model name. They just didnt point that out in the description.
So, Im still trying to find a shop that carries one. They cant be that hard to find... :dunno:

Marlin's web site should have a link to the dealers in your area. If I was looking for a new rifle I would be very interested.

They list Federal Way Discount Guns as an authorized dealer, which is close to home for me, but they dont stock the XL7. Im just gonna have to keep calling around.

sportco has had a couple xl7's
the xs7 is just a short action. and they are almost exaclty the same as a savage...at half the price.
i shot a marlin xl7 in 30-06 and its savage brother and i really liked the marlin. and at half the price of the savage i would have to say the marlin is a much better deal.
i was gonna go for a higher end rifle for myself, then buy a stevens or a marlin for my gf. but now after shooting the marlin im just gonna buy a couple of them and put decent glass on them.

they have the xl7 in wood stock on the website. hopefully they will have the xs7 in wood by june or july so i can buy a couple of them.
