My brother has an X bolt composit stalker in 300 win and I have a Hells Canyon Speed in 6.5 creedmoor. They are both tac drivers and worth every penny. You won't be disappointed.Planning on geeting the Speed in 6.5 myself shortly, thanks for the info

Seeing it is a fairly light for a super magnum. All I care about in a hunting rifle is my first three shots. The rifle shot super well with the factory Nosler 160gr Accubond's .

With the muzzle brake recoil is between a sporter weight .308 Win and a 30-06. Hard to beat the ballistics of the heavier 7mm bullets at 28 Nosler speeds.
Once you have the brass, it can be handloaded for about .86 cents a round with premium bullets.
That being said. The 300 Win Mag is my all time favorite cartridge.

The only small issue I have with it is I don't really care for the trigger. For you guys that own one, I know its a 3#-5# trigger but does it come from the factory closer to 3# or 5#?. I have my Tikka set up between 2 1/2#and 3# and it feels way better than the X bolt

I have been eyeballing the McMillan edition pretty hard lately. Can't decide if it's worth the extra money. It's fully bedded, not sure if the regular hells canyon long range is bedded or not
Looks about as close to a custom as factory can get. Pretty sweet. Course price is getting up there too....

Watching a guy shoot one at the range chambered in .300 WSM. Is why I purchased a Browning, mild recoil with the brake and it was very accurate with factory ammo.

Buddy just shooting factory Nosler 180 Accubonds with 1/2 moa accuracy, leupold 4-24 turret scope. The wsm seems to take well to factory loads - havent chrono-ed it but suspect the short fat case has more consistant sd with factory loads than others. Big fan of high shoulder shots at extended range. The 215’s with 300 wm would stretch out further tho.680 yards one shot xbolt 300wsm

Decided to order a 300 win mag in a Browning x bolt Hells Canyon Speed. I haven't hunted Elk or Bear with a rifle in over 35 years but this will be my new Elk and Bear gun. I have a tack driving 270 win for Deer, Sheep and Goats

Had a hard time adding the pic. Browning Hells Canyon Speed 7mm. Leupold VX-5HD. Oregunsmith made the stock and worked the trigger. It's set at just under 3 lbs. Atlas bipod
Pretty much a do-all rifle there ! Nice. Bet its a nice shooter with the break and 7mm too.

Letting the barrel cool between shots and clean it hard with a bore snake
Then I'll start doing 3 shot groups with different bullets and clean in between to see what she likes. I have 6 different bullets to try today. LUCKILY I ONLY HAD TO BUY 4 BOXES
180 grain Remington ultra coreloks
180 grain Hornady Interlocks
180 grain Federal TBT
180 grain Winchester XP3
190 grain Nosler Accubond LR
200 grain Federal Edge TLR
and then I have a buddy putting together some handloads for me with
180 Accubonds
180 Partitions
190 Accubond LR
Nothing too special but its what Ive always done
A lot of guys will go to 3 at 5 shot after the 3 shot series before grouping :dunno:

Following this, I setup @ 100 yds. Groups were then, all similar in the 2-2 ½” range and low. It was cold, I was a little under dressed, and should have secured the butt stock better (reticle movement).
On my next session, I ran even more cheapo Hornady American WT 180 gr InterLocks. First group was 2 ½”. Wet patched it. Second group was about the same. Didn’t touch it. Third group was well under MOA. Didn’t touch it. 4th group was well under MOA. Didn’t touch it. 5th group was a hair over MOA. By the last group, the snow was coming in sideways and I was admittedly cold, and shivering a little. Squeezed 2 last shots off…

I have a box of Berger VLD 185’s and Nosler Trophy LR 190 Accubonds I’m anxious to try. It seems like many are getting great results w/ the ELD-X’s, so am planning to try those as well. With the amount I shoot, probably going to make the jump and start reloading any day now.
This browning is replacing a stainless Ruger M77 MKII 7mm RM that I would call a 2” shooter (factory). Of all the ammo out there, it’s most likely to shoot MOA with the Federal blue box SP in 175. I think the Ruger’s prettier, more durable, and definitely prefer its bolt, action, and safety to the Browning HC Speed. However, the Browning is noticeably lighter, kicks like a school girl comparatively (muzzle break & pad), has a better trigger (adjustable), is bedded and free floated, and I’m certain it will produce custom-level groups w/ some more range time. In my opinion, it’s an out of the box beast.

It was pretty cold today, especially early. Seams like a pretty good shooter. The lowest I could get my trigger was 3.5#, a little heavier than I'm used too but I might put a lighter spring in it and try to get around 3#. Thanks for the range report
I really appreciate everyone's input the last few weeks and I'll up date next weekend when I get back to the range with some additional ammo

Trying to decide between the Leupy VX3i in 4.5x14x50 with the CDS or going with the NF SHV in 4x14x56. Any of you have any experience or recommendations on either scope?
I own, shoot and love both leupold and NF. My only thought with the NF....if you are going 4-14, you might as well do the 5-20......You won't regret it. I love my 5-20 shv. :tup: :tup:

Yes. I would have the flyer on the start of each 5 shot group after the cleaning. Groups tightened up as the day went on and I cleaned less frequently. It really groups multiple loads well. I finished the day with a total round count of 65.
Was your top target string horizontal as shown? Wind ?
All of the pictures are rotated due to the way they uploaded from my phone, so that is actually a vertical string. We did have a decent amount of crosswind at times, but I was still able to get some decent groups.

i ended up going with the NF 4-14-56 and man is that thing clear! only problem is i ordered my rings before the scope and got mediums and with going to the larger objective they arent tall enough :bash:. so i have Highs on the way, killing me to look at this thing and not be able to go shoot! I went with the Talleys as they make them in the cerakote to match the barrel.

I tried 190gr ABLR and 200gr ABs using H1000 and 4831
yesterday I picked up a box of 212eldx, RL22 and more H1000.
Anyone have any recommendation on amounts between those three rounds and powders? I know most folks do not like the ABLRs but I am curious if I can get them to work. Though, my first choice would be the 200ABs for my hunting round. But if I can get the 212s to shoot, those will do me just fine.
Was going to start around 73gr rl22 with the 212s and work up
not really sure yet of H1000 and the 212s.
br2 primers but did pick up some cci250s to try
I am shooting a hells canyon speed 300wm with 82 rounds through it.

Not a Berger fan? If it was me I would work up to load of 77 gr H1000, Fed 215s, 215 Berger Hybrid/Hunter at .010-.040 off - seems proven tho start no higher than 72 as lots vary.
Nothing against them at all. I have zero experience with them but would be willing to give them a shot if this weekend's shooting doesn't turn up a load I'm looking to achieve.

I dropped a timney in it last weekend. Fairly easy process with one caveat - a lot of people are finding an issue with the safety bar contacting the stock with the new trigger and I was no exception. I ended up bending the bar somewhat to bring it closer to the trigger housing and then took the outside of it to a grinder and took material off until it would work the safety without binding up.
With that said, the trigger is at 1.75lbs now and breaks clean every time with no creep. The only thing that sucks is the safety no longer locks the bolt, but I’ll take it.
