Title: Anyone tried 7mm-08 with Hornady 162 ELD-X or the 150 ELD-X?
Post by: tbrady on January 02, 2018, 09:02:13 AM
Hi All,

I'm close to picking up a 7mm-08 Tikka Superlite and am trying to figure out what load to work on first.  Has anyone tried the 162's in a 7mm-08?  My main concern is the coal since the I believe the mag length on the Tikka is 2.800.  Although you can apparently swap out the mag for a long-action and replace the bolt stop to use longer cartridges.

My next choice would be 150 ELD-X... just curious if anyone has worked up loads for either of these.

thanks!
tim

I have not done any load testing with the mentioned caliber. However, I have experience with tikkas and have found that in general they perform better with the heavier bullets. I would lean towards the 162s. Also, every tikkas I have shot loves the ELD X
