Looking to buy a new pair of boots for next season. Looking at the Crispi's. Now trying to decide if I should go insulated or non insulated.
Looking for a boot that will be good for Washington deer and elk and most likely Idaho deer/elk as well. I typically run pretty warm and worried the insulated ones will be too hot for early season deer?
What are your thoughts?

My preference is uninsulated boots for the hunts you mention. I have hunted those areas for deer and elk. Insulated boots are too warm for my feet in the first half or more of the season, and it is unlikely to get super cold till after most seasons. When it gets really cold I switch to heavily insulated pac boots and usually don't hike as much. Also, uninsulated boots are easier to dry when they get wet, and sooner or later any boot I've worn for such hunts gets wet inside, probably sooner. :chuckle:
It has to be your preference however.

Uninsulated - but my feet always run warm.

I have the crispi Idaho’s Uninsulated. Love them. I will say first time out. I got a hot spot on my heel. So I always put mule skin on before going. Took about 10-15 miles to fully break them in. Now no mule skin and can wear whatever thickness of socks without any problems. They have great support and the traction is spectacular.

Uninsulated before November........ carry toe warmer packets just in case.

I always used 400gr insulated boots, switched to Lowa Tibet’s uninsulated and won’t be looking back. My feet were so much happier.

I picked up the Crispi Nevada insulated a couple months ago so can not comment on how they will do early season but I went back and forth between insulated and non insulated. The insulated Nevada is only 200g so far my feet have never felt hot but I do wear 200g insulated work boots year round so I am probably use to it.

I only run insulated when there are temps below freezing with snow or when I will be in a bunch of water. I prefer to wear the lightest boot I can get away with given the conditions and have three pair that cover summer through the coldest winter hunt.

Get insulated. Wear light socks in warmer weather. Would u get the smallest engine available in your hunting rig? Good hunting boots are expensive, get ones that will serve many purposes.

Uninsulated for early. I have Crispi guides.

I went uninsulated, not crispis, but load Tibet's. I was worried my feet would get cold, haven't found a situation yet that they have during a regular season.
I wear silk liners under darn doughs for socks. Feet have never been this comfortable in the field.
