I bought a set of three HS Strut calls several years ago. I have tried and tried to work them. This year I have been trying again. I can get this miserable squawk, a huge improvement over not sound at all.

Is there a diaphram call that is VERY easy to use? So easy an old tired uncoordinated lazy dummy can work it? ps, I think my tongue may be handicapped.

Well, I bought the primos and they aren't much better. Hard to used compared to a diaphragm for elk hunting. Maybe see if you can find a turkey call with a single reed. That should make it easier but the ones that have multiple are harder to use IMO.

They are all similar for the most part. Quakerboy has some foam fit mouth calls I tried last year..they wern't bad. I also like the primos dome calls..they have the hard plastic green dome..easy to blow. Try two reed or three reed they use less air. I like 3 reed calls they have a nice break in the yelp. I like quaker boys screaming green mouth calls..the jagged edge is one of my fav's. Go to Midwest Turkey call supply...they have lots of different calls. Also try Wing Supply they can have some deals on turkey calls to.

I also like the primos sonic dome calls. I have a funky shaped roof to my mouth so the mini is the easiest for me to use, it fits tighter to the roof of my mouth.

Try and find a single reed call, if not a soft double. The calls won't produce as raspy or as loud of a call but they will be much easier to use. They don't require as much force so it's easier to get the feel of how to make different sounds. I don't remember which company it was, but they used to make a youth call.... similiar idea, softer single reed.

As stated all of them are roughly the same concept. You have to get one that fits you, the other thing that a lot of people try to do is blow air through it. That will not get you a lot of sound except for a lot of wheezing.
You should really get yourself a video or two that explains what you are doing and why and how to mimick that sound. Just buying them from the shelf and throwing them in your mouth is going to take a long time to master.

Everything they said plus if you find that the HS Strut or Primos calls are too small for you pallete, like they are mine (not wide enough and they wash around), you might try the Knight and Hale Championship Cutter. Its a 3.5 reed, normally not the best to learn on, but it is a very, very simple 3.5 reed. And it is wider, staying put in my mouth. I also love the Screamin Green like yelp.
