Gray wolves return to Mt. Hood forest
"Though some worry that wolves may spell disaster for the populations of black-tailed deer and Roosevelt elk, which also call the forest home, there is an overall understanding among state agencies and environmental groups that predators and prey can coexist.
"One of the benefits of having wolves there is they keep other predators in check," Krotcha explained. "Compared to coyotes or harsh weather, it's ridiculous how small the amount of those kills (of deer or elk) are from wolves. It highlights how politicized the discussion around wolves is."

The blacktail and elk populations on mount hood are already abysmal because the forests are too dark. I walk miles and miles through the national forest up there without seeing a track.
I don't see a permanent wolf population there because there's just not enough food to support them.

I like the fact that as soon as they see wolves in the area ,they start forest management plan, wolf management, but other then that the artical seemed very pro-wolf.
On a another note when wolves hit the west side ,national forest will turn into wolf parks where the tree-huggers and anti's can hear the wolf . :chuckle:

Well if they pass that wolf relocation bill that prediction might come true sooner than you think. I think then the WDFW needs to be transparent as anything on the states computers must be public record and wolf relocations made available. :twocents:

I don't imagine that will happen, if it did there would have to be a scrubbing of all the past wolf relocations, just saying..

No worries, they will quickly move to your favorite elk haunt
