Clearly .22lr scopes wouldn't need everything a larger caliber scope needs but I still see some pushing $300. I'm looking for quality optics for plinking and a small bit of hunting. Any shooting I do will be under 100 yards. Hoping to get out under $50 but, open to suggestions.

I just got a Savage 17 from Cabela's and put Cabela's rimfire 3x9x40 on it. Comes with an extra turret once you get it dialed in at 50 or 100 then install the extra turret, pretty simple. You have to specify if it's for a 22 or 17 I believe. Spose you could get cheaper ones at WalMarche' or try Natchez Shooter Supply.

The Leupold VX-I or VX-II 2-7x33's make for nice little scopes on 22's.

Here's a follow up question. I have a Trophy Ridge 3x32 crossbow scope laying around. Do you think there'd be a problem just using that?
-
You won’t get much for $50. If you do you’ll likely have to replace it soon. If a straight 4x scope would work for you Weaver has a good one for $125.

Rimfire scope typically have a closer parallel free distance. They are usually set at 50 yards vs. 100 yards on centerfire scopes.
-
Not sure about the crossbow scope. Cabela's caliber - specific scopes are on sale, $50 - $150 right now.
-
Since I'm not any money trying the crossbow scope, I'm gonna try that and I'll report back.
Further recommendations in case it doesn't work are still encouraged.

I went with the 2-7x35 Vortex Diamondback for my Ruger 10/22. Haven't shot it a whole lot. But am pretty pleased with the scope. Think I got it at Cabela's for $180?

I have had this cheap @ss Simmons 22mag 4x32 on my 10/22 takedown for 3 years now and it's held it's zero perfectly.I bought it when i was headed out of town and didn't want to spend a lot of money and planned on replacing it with a Leupold like all of my other scoped guns wear (besides one other) and have never needed to.

Mueller Optics are popular rimfire scopes. I’ve got one on my 10/22 and love it. Sub $150 range.

I have bsa sweet 22 scope on one of my 22s. I’ve dialed the hell outta that little thing and it still works just fine for 50-100 yards.
Not the best scope by any means but has served me plenty well for the $50 I paid

They definitely fit your price point.

I purchased a couple Cabelas 3-9x40's with adjustable turrets that seem to work very well, and they were not expensive.

I ran a Weaver 2.5-7 Rimfire scope on my SS 22 Hornet for many years great clear scope, I haven't tried one but they say the 3-9 is even better.
