Title: Cougar movement
Post by: optic2 on March 08, 2018, 04:57:46 PM
How long does a cougar hang around an area? If you see them will they still be in the same general area for a few days? I'm asking because a friend was out hiking the other day and saw a cougar.

If they have a will they will stay around for a few days, especially in mild temperatures when the meat won't spoil.  If they are travelling they cover miles in no time at all...

In NE Washington they tend to check out deer winter areas all winter, the high elevation is too deep in snow for them to hang around.

What I have witnessed is they have a routine. On my trail cam I had one come thru religiously a month apart. I think Dale made a comment on another thread about his experience. Toms have a larger range from what I understand.
