Title: Luxe Minipeak
Post by: treeclimber2852 on March 12, 2018, 06:33:14 AM
I got my birthday present last week.  I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the quality, especially for the price.  It's incredibly roomy, has the inner tent with a bathtub design and I love being able to use my hiking poles as the center pole.  Since the weather was nice I was able to get the seams all sealed over the weekend.  Next step...get it out in the woods for a few days to see how it handles.

Did you get a stove for it?

I didn't, but the stove they have looks pretty sweet...and it only weighs 20 lbs.

Luxe makes good products.  I have the Megahorn III and its bombproof.  Here's a link to Luxe Hiking Gear if anybody is interested in checking out what they have to offer (you can certainly save a ton of bucks by going with Luxe vs. some of the "other" companies out there).

What do you do when you go out from your camp and your hiking poles are holding up you tent? Do you take your tent down every morning before you go out?

I've always avoided tents like this for that reason. So I am curious if there is something simple that I am missing

if i plan on not moving camp i leave my poles at camp. thats just two more things i can leave laying in the woods while im trying to  :hunter:

So you pack in tent poles? I don't know about you, but I have found that trekking poles are worth 100 times more after the kill and your pack is 3-4 times heavier than it should be.

im talking about my trekking poles. I use them to hike in with camp on my back i use them to set up my shelter and they stay there unless im moving camp or if im hauling meat. i dont take my tent poles with me while im actually hunting because i have my bow in my hand and not alot of weight on my back. if im hauling meat then my camp is usually coming down anyway so i no longer need the poles for my shelter.

Do you go back to your camp after you kill something to get your trekking poles? I apologize if it seems like I am being critical of your process, I am just curious how you go about things when you have to use your trekking poles to set up your tent.

Cut a tent pole out of a sapling or carry an extra collapsible tent pole in your pack :dunno:

After i kill something i can do a couple of things. i will either go through camp on my way out and take part of camp out with me or depending on situation i will replace poles with sticks or if i dont plan on staying another night but dont want to put everything away at that moment i will pull the poles and stake the tarp taunt over the gear while im hauling meat. i also will sometimes have my old poles in my truck if i kill something between camp and the truck. it just all depends on the situation.
