Title: New to me 2008 Toyota Tundra
Post by: TC_outdoorsman on March 15, 2018, 02:34:07 PM: I decided the 1997 F250 (with the 5.4 gas engine) was no longer reliable enough for our family to take on long vacations pulling a trailer, so I decided on a new to me 2008 Toyota Tundra. I found the canopy on craigslist and just need to paint it now. Anyone have any recommendations on back up cameras or other useful aftermarket items? I have wanted a tundra since the original came out and have not been disappointed with this one yet. It has 135,000 miles on it and I am hoping it will go 250,000+ trouble free miles.

Post by: TC_outdoorsman on March 16, 2018, 11:23:44 AM: Thanks Brushcrawler. I like those 2006 tundras but I have 4 kids and I could never find a 06 tundra with a double cab with 3 seatbelts in the front and 3 in the back (I dont think they made them with a front bench seat).

It does have a spray in bedliner.

Post by: jackmaster on March 16, 2018, 11:31:11 AM: I had an 08 and now I have a 2010 , the only issues I have had with both are the heater makes a funny noise and the gas gauges haven't worked right in either one, I had a little over a quarter tank yesterday and managed to run out if gas on 167 so just be on the look out for that!! Nice truck, I have really liked both of mine!! They get really crappy gas mileage when you tow things!!

I had a 03 6.0 liter ford with 254,000 that was a money pit. I have a trailer that is 6600 lbs dry. I don't ever carry water or what not, and pull it 7/8 times a yr. I looked at the Tundra and 3.5 Ecoboost, and decided on the Ford. I got a 2014 with 21,900 and so far have put on 500 miles and love it. Pulling the trailer to the beach this next weekend to dig clams. Anxious to see how it tows.

Post by: nutntoit on April 19, 2018, 12:56:39 PM: Congrats on the truck! I have a 17' Tundra and love it. If you don't already have all weather floor liners the Husky liners are worth every penny. They cover a lot more than the factory mats and you can just hose them off when they get dirty. Also, for any Tundra specific questions or information check out Tundras.com. There is a ton of great information on there.

What a cheap piece of crap money pit that car's been. Brake problems every 20K miles, no AC, leaks. I bought a 2007 Tundra with 158K for $14K. It's silvery-grey and drives nice. I won't take possession of it until Friday evening at the Toyota dealership. Can't wait to get it up in the woods!

Hammerhead bumpers front and rear. Winch is a Warn VR12000.
