Title: Leupold Seqoia Spotting Scope
Post by: steeleywhopper on March 11, 2009, 05:03:49 PM
I am wondering if anyone has any experience with the Leupold Seqoia Spotting Scope? I am looking to purchase a spotter for this hunting season and wonder what you all might be using, and how it may or may not work for you. Looking at the  20-60 x 80mm. Gonna be using it for spot and stalk. Thanks

Save your money, optics are not that great and they are very heavy.

Thanks for all the life saving posts. This is exactly why I asked for help. I have never used a spotting scope for hunting and I just happened to see a deal on the Seqoia, now i know that it is know deal at all. I know it has probably been beat to death here, but what would be a good quality light weigt spotter that won't break the bank? (Under $500).

Look on E-bay. I bought my 12-40x60 gold ring for $500.00 off there. You would probably do better with a smaller model but you could use one similar without too much weight problems. :twocents:

I bought a Leupold gold ring 15-30x50mm spotter on eBay for $270.  I had a 12-40x60mm Gold ring but it was kind of heavy to be lugging around all day. I am happy, decent glass in a more light, compact package.

This is what I just bought for hiking with (Nikon spotter xl II) and on top of it the optics are really clear and great in low light the only other spotter you need other than this is a Swarovski!

i have one and it works fine for what i use it for. i would never pack a spotting scope that big around the wood. works great from the truck and at the range. remember its only a 200$ spotter what are you guys expecting?

I am waiting for Zen Ray to come out with one in their ED line.  If it is anything like the binoculars I will be on the list for purchase.

I have had one it fell out of my pack during a stalk, I didn't bother going back for it. I now have a nikon spotter II 15x45x60 way better optics and great pack scope, I paid $399.00 during sale at sportsman warehouse.
