When the "unsold" tags are offered over the counter, the elk sell out in less than 1 minute. The deer might not sell out at all.

My elk points went from 5 to 6 today too. I'm guessing that's not a good sign.

I have an excel sheet to very loosely estimate my odds for applications based on all the info from: https://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/permits/results/points/2017.php clicking into the detail PDFs.
you can't really know for sure point creep or group applications and I didn't spend much time developing a super smart algorithm, but it gives me a general idea of tag odds and what to apply for based on opportunity.
10 points is going to run around 45% odds to draw. Next year you should jump over 50% so hopefully you win the coin flip.

no deer for me. i went 7 years drawing it and have only been 1/3 the last few. weird.

Multi season
Hunting and fishing license was like 40-50 bucks
And game was abundant and access was available and easy
Then the fish and game improved things
I recall they moved to user groups to eliminate “hunter overcrowding”

You must have applied for the MS deer tag in order to purchase one OTC when they go on sale.

Selected for elk not for deer, now I have planning to do, max quality elk points, have been waiting to use them in the south east, but had not want to hunt cows and spikes if I did not draw. So what would be your choices, west side, east is going to be Dayton. Or wenaha east or west.Consider muzzy dayton and nooksack. Good chance of drawing. Even with max points your odds aren’t great with rifle.

:yeah: Spent 9 days in there hunting hard - in before daybreak 5.5 miles, out after dusk - and saw a number of big bulls - we took the largest and it was 330 and that took some luck. Didn't see anyone with any larger.

You'll never know if I see another wolf in our woods!
