Have had a Nikon ProStaff 82 mm camo spotting scope for probably 8-10 years. Have always taken care to put it away after every season and it still looked as new. Last year while spotting over at the ranch a gust of wind came up and knocked the tripod over and as the scope hit the ground the eyepiece broke loose.
Sent it back to Nikon and today I received a brand new ProStaff 5 82 mm Fieldscope to replace my broken scope. First thing I noticed is how much lighter this scope is. Can't ask for better service than that.

No just the scope and eyepiece. I have all my Nikon products entered in my account online at their site. Each timer I buy something, I just register it online by including it in my products in my account. In the case of the scope. I did not have a receipt for the spotter as I bought it online from a vendor on Ebay years ago.

Nikon optics are awesome and, on the rare occasion you need service, they deliver.

I sent my Nikon in to have it recharged with nitrogen because of fog on 3/21/18 and got it back on 4/6/18. No charge full warranty even though i broke the seal(by accident). They also confirmed all mechanics were still within specs.

As of a few years ago, there were no exact-fit scope caps for the 3-12x42 Monarch.
I had to tape a Butler Creek cap so it wouldn’t fall off.

I ended up calling Butler Creek and got some cap's for a M-223 3-12x42 that I have, they are on there so tight I would have to pry them off with a flat head screwdriver to put something new on.
I know what you mean though, often times even when given the correct outside dimension's fit is not always perfect. I have gone to Nikon's new neoprene scope cover. Better protection for the entire optic just not quite as easy to use as flip up caps.
