OK, I see that huntnphool has opened the Alaska waterfalls. This one is from Sitka Alaska in 2002.

Ya, it starts up by the house with the first waterfall I posted, runs 80' along the edge of the elevated yard and then drops off in this last pick as you see it, disappearing in these Montana Rainbow Rocks next to the driveway. Its pondless, was fun to do but ended up being a little bit bigger project than I had anticipated :chuckle:

Real Nice guys... I love waterfalls. I took some back in Germany on 35mm, will see if I can salvage the film and put on disk one of these days.
Phool.... thats a great water feature you have there !
I built one in my backyard in Cali, will see if I can upload a couple tomorrow.

Thanks NWTF. I know there are those brainiacs out there doing the math so I thought I would show an additional picture of whats under a waterfall. Mine is pondless so there was the challenge of making the collection area large enough to hold enough water to fill the 4" pipe, the 80' stream and still keep the pump under water. This hole is 5 1/2 feet deep and you can see how wide it is. Obviously being pondless the displacement of the rocks would have meant a much bigger hole than I had room for so I used plastic milk crates. I cant remember the exact gallons it holds but it worked. When the stream is turned off all the water sits in this hole under the rainbow rock you see in the waterfall picture. There is a hard plastic grate over the entire hole so you can walk on it and not worry about falling through.

How about Natural Bridge Falls in Central Montana on the Boulder River?
Pools up above and flows through the rock to explode out the bottom.
-
And Palouse Falls
-
This is either Sunset or Moultan Falls, I don't remember which.

Not sure the name of the falls, but it is on Lake Roosevelt about 8 miles up river from two rivers on the reservation side of the water. Fantastic falls, because it drops right into the lake.

The top pict looks like the hole Smeagol crawled out of! :lol4:

can't remember the name
-
Here are a few.
-
an area below where I hunt bear
-
To make the water look like cotton candy requires a slow shutter speed...right ? How slow ? And everything in focus a small shutter speed ??
-
more of a seep than a waterfall, South of Dayton - My Son and I doing some ice climbing.
-
Elksnout: In landscape shots like this in low light, everything in focus requires a wide open f-stop. I ALWAYS use a tripod and in this case f/13 focused about 8-10 feet in front of me. Apature priority and let the camera pick the shutter speed. In this case it was measured in seconds.

I am bumping this old thread because I am looking for waterfalls in Washington figured I'd start with this thread and ask a bout 2 on here
wapiti hunter2 can you tell me where those falls are and are they reasonably easy to reach?
and Elkman where are those ones if you dont mind telling me?
anyone else that has any idea of waterfalls I can get to...as in get under or get in or on rocks within the spray zone, I would much appreciate hearing about them...have a little project I am working on finally....
-
I'm pretty sure you have all seen this one :P
-
Runamuk, Thanks for bumping this up. The waterfalls I shot are easy to get to if you are in Tasmania, Australia. Sorry. The way I shot them though should serve anyone well who wants to get great shots.
-
Runamuk, there's at least one waterfall I know that someone can get under in the Queets RF. It is about a mile and a half down a washed out road.
Also, there are lots in Olympic National Park. I think the Enchanted Valley has several hundred, and maybe close to a thousand by some people's counts. That is about a 13 mile hike though.

I had a suspicion they werent local...but they are what I am looking for.

yeah I dont want to hike 13 miles with equipment :o just thought I'd ask around I know there are lots in the Olympics many are just not real easy access.....
-
There's a couple I can think of real close to a road. The one is maybe only about 6-8 feet high and kind of wide. It is on the Sitkum River along FS Rd 29, about 12 miles from Forks. I'll see if I can find any pictures. I don't blame you for not wanting to drag equipment everywhere. The only 'quipment I like to drag around is the steel.

Nthen cooler than water falls ... sweet !
