My son was able to fill his very 1st tag with a dandy Tom Sunday afternoon.

After waking at 3:30am & sitting thru a monsoon Saturday morning we had 3 jakes & 3 hens come in but he wasn’t able to get a shot...after a lunch break we went back out for a afternoon/evening hunt with no action...

We got a later start Sunday morning & only seen 1 hen & 6 deer after sitting for 6-7 hrs & Then magic happened when a monster silently walked in from the left...

In total we sat in our blind for 18-20 hrs & Jesse did an awesome job being quiet & keeping his & our spirits up especially Saturday thru the monsoon...

Congrats!  Curious, were you calling while waiting in the blind?  Was this public land?  Trying to figure it out on how to do it right 😀

We did call.  Saturday we called a hen in who was yelping up a storm which helped bring in the 3 Jakes.  Sunday nothing was responding to calls as we did hear some yelping & a couple gobbles but our calls went unanswered until the Tom came in...We were set up on a private parcel next to public...

Great work on being patient.  That is a tough trait to teach.  Congratulations on your success.

Nice job!  Love the pics.  Good on him for keeping at it, that takes some patience.  That tom looks huge, especially next to your boy!

Congrats to you and your son! I’m hoping to take my 9 year old out later this season. Couldn’t get out for youth season.
Can I ask what he’s shooting? Looks like a single shot break? What gauge? I have a single shot 16 ga and wondering if that would do the job for my son.
 Thanks.

Thanks from the both of us & I will add a pic of his fan & his wingbone call in future upon completion...
He used a 12ga single shot, we did let him shoot some smaller hand loads prior to the larger loads...
