Title: Falcon visit
Post by: jay.sharkbait on April 15, 2018, 02:23:30 PM: Last couple weeks we've seen what I think are two different Falcons. They come in chasing the birds that are on our feeders. We see Eagles daily and the occasional Osprey, but I've never seen a Falcon this close to the sound.

Any thoughts on if they are going to stick around etc?

Post by: Mfowl on April 15, 2018, 02:58:14 PM: Looks like a Cooper's Hawk or maybe a Sharp Shinned Hawk. Not quite a falcon but will take birds on the wing. I've had similar hawks terrorize the bird feeder at home. They can be extremely acrobatic when chasing sparrows, pretty cool to see.

I think you are right! I've never heard of a Coopers Hawk????

Nice photo. Hard to tell the difference even when in your hand....
