Waste of fricken money!! And to use the teanaway trail cam pic of wolves to help justify the overpass. Wolf loving bunny huggers! :pee:
-
:yeah:

And where it is at is so high in elevation and design that nothing will use it over all.. total waste of millions if they really wanted wildlife to cross I90 they would put big culverts in like they did down by prosser.. I have seen deer and elk walking out of them so they work..

or how about on I90 between eburg and vantage where thousands of elk cross back and fourth across the hwy all year long. I’ve commuted over the pass for the past 12 years. I can count on both hands how many deer and elk that have been hit between Easton and price creek. Then add another 2 years of road construction on to the project that has been going on for 10 years. :bash:
-
this is just someones wet dream that they pushed through on our dime. ive been commuting for 10 years, 5-7 days a week along this stretch, and have only seen one elk killed within 2 miles of this crossing, not even a deer. this is a waste of money. there are far better spotst they could have put one of these things. also, why not use culverts, they dug holes so damn deep, would have been done already if they went that route instead of this eye sore. only way this will even work is if they put 12-14' fencing a few miles each direction of crossing and funnel the animals to it. just my opinion, but what a waste!
-
I am in construction and as silly as this seems it’s not a waste of money. Those tax dollars are putting food on tables.
Now for the joke.
It’s going to work perfectly because they are going to put up signs for the animals and have classes showing them the dangers of Jwalking. It might not be this generation but those wolf pups will see the benefits of the crossing

I spoke with another member here last fall that is working on this construction project. He seemed to feel pretty strongly that alot of elk cross in that section of I-90 and the overpass would end up being very beneficial in the long run at that location. I would really like to see this done below Rye Grass along with an elk fence where there are higher concentrations of animals during the winter. I don't like that they seem to be making it some architectural masterpiece, it just needs to be functional.
-
"If we build it, they will come." LOL.

Good for wildlife and human safety. I wish they would do one at ryegrass, and anywhere there are concentrated vehicle strikes.
-
Give a politician ANY excuse to WASTE money and increase taxes, they'll do it!! As for putting food on the table, How about taking that same amount of money and put it toward GOOD useful projects!!!
Lots of bridges needing replaced(Methow de-icer damage). Lots of potholes needing filled, damaged guardrails, etc etc.
As for the wolf footage, I think a disclaimer needs to be posted as to exactly where it was filmed and proved so.
-
"let's put a bridge where there's hardly ever any vehicle accidents involving animals to save lives and not worry about areas where there's tons of vehicle accidents involving animals. Those animals will travel the 100 miles to this crossing to cross I-90 so they won't get hit."
:bash:

agreed it is putting food on tables. But it could have been placed else where. In an area with mor concentration of animals crossing the road. There still would have been jobs!

I watched a similar video for the Trans Canada Hwy and they built big fancy overpasses, but most animals preferred underpass, and grizzlies never used the overpass.
-
A picture of what its suppose to look like when complete. Looks like a couple deer have said enough in the pic and are ready to jump :chuckle:
-
Given the progress that's been made up there over the last 100 years it seems, that may be complete by the year 2089. I'm guessing I'll be sodded under by the time that project is done.

Isn't that the truth. I used to travel over the pass often but not quite as frequent any more. I straight up can't recall the last time I drove over it prior to this project :yike:

RETARDED

Do I need a special tag to hunt the edge of this new project :chuckle:
and if I put up a tree stand now can I claim it as my spot !

Just go set your tent up there and throw a lawn chair out. It's as good as yours.

And if you claim to be homeless they cannot make you leave..

Where is the scotch bloom and garbage on the side of the road? That pic must not be Washington
-
what a joke, I see RED every time I drive through that area. Seems like a really dumb place to put it, there going to have to move a mountain to build the ramps on both sides for it to seem "natural" enough for the critters to want to use it. There's a few spots they could have used where it wouldn't take near as much earth moving equipment to do the same thing.

Use the money on our VETS..............

I read that there are 20 planned. Blight.

I spoke to a DOT engineer who told me that the funds for the overpass come from feds, specifically for the overpass and it is included in the funds provided for the construction project. The overpass had to be built within the zone of the existing construction project. A study was done and that was the best place available inside the zone. Animals will use it. It will benefit us all over time.
More are planned as new construction projects are started/planned. I believe Ryegrass will have at least one in the future
Again...... the feds granted the state the money specifically for an overpass within the construction zone. You guys sure like to complain makes me sick.

Yeah we do like to complain :chuckle: quit whining about my complaining
but in regards to your comments when the feds "grants" a state that comes from taxes, which comes from the people.
Lots of the "complaining" that many do is not approving of how their money is being spent, at least that is the way I look at it.
:twocents:

Get used to the complaining as more will be coming.
-
Lots of pickup truck payments getting made off of that project, if It keeps one elk out of someone lap while doing 70mph I am good with it.

Good one. You almost had me until I realized you weren't being serious.

Keep in mind that it's all rock up there and you can't work in the winter.Theres creeks and the lake that are huge environmental issues. Also Theres 30,000 cars and trucks using the road everyday.Things take time and there is more wildlife then one might think.

:yeah: and there’s lots of material to stack and band :chuckle:
