I got bored and took the 375 Ruger out for some practice today. I have a pile of 300gr Sierra GameKings so I loaded some up with a case full of H4350 to see how they'd shoot. Got it zeroed at 100 yards and went straight to 568 yards just for fun. First shot was on the left edge of the target rock, but that was all my fault.
The rock is probably 12-13" across, so it's a pretty good size target. I'm pretty happy with the 3 shots before I adjusted the hold though especially for shooting sitting off of the sticks. It took 14 MOA to hit at 568 yards, so the drops actually track very close to a 308 with a 175 SMK. Next trip out I'll see about going to 750+ yards.
Anybody else do any long range shooting with unconventional guns or chamberings?

Used to do a ton of shooting out to 580 with my 50 cal muzzy. Man that used to be a pile of fun

I took my 375 HH out to 500 the other day.
270 Speer spbt at around 2675 fps I was surprised how well it did.
What wasn’t so awesome was the fact that those rounds and my 260 partitions At 2700 shoot drastically different. 7-8 inches apart at 100 yards. Both sub moa tho.

Very Cool

We do pretty well with my .257 wby and the 338-378 wby. Love seeing an elk buckle with the 338.

It's kind of the other end of the spectrum, but I've often enjoyed plinking with a .22 pistol at "long range", i.e. mostly 150-300 yards but sometimes further. It's amazing how accurate an old Ruger MkI (or whatever) can be, considering.

I've burned a lot of ammo in my MkIII trying shots like that. I'd go out and shoot at my 10" gong until I could hit 10 out of to shots at a give range, then back up 10 yards. I made it out to 160 yards sitting and resting my elbows on my knees. I just never got any consistency past 160 yards no matter what ammo I tried.
I'm trying to get somebody to let me shoot the 375 in a local PRS match. I've been making fun of the PRS guys for shooting baby calibers so I just want to go shoot a match with a real gun. Then I'll just curl up and cry myself to sleep after shooting off 80 rounds from the 375. :chuckle:
