Found these pics on Hunting BC forum. Supposedly scored 210.
-
damn that thing is huge
-
:yeah:
-
I believe thats alberta though
-
B&C site says it scores 208 and a little change. A huge ram. Why haven't I shot rams up there before? :dunno:
-
So is it legal to keep that head in Canada?
-
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
-
damn, that's big!!
-
I have a good friend who sent me pictures of this ram and they are currently in the possession of Alberta fish and game. My friend is a sheep guide and on the board of the alberta wild sheep foundation, this ram was found in Alberta on the Cadomin mine. The guy who found it spotted it and evidently unknowingly trespassed to get it, thats why it's in F&G's hands now. Doesn't sound like the guy knew he was trespassing when he went to grab it. I believe in Alberta they can pick them up, but they have to be taken in and plugged. Sound like they will be turned over to the Alberta wild sheep foundation eventually. One heck of a Ram, huh?
-
That thing is insane. :yike:
MS
-
wow, what a find!!!
-
WOW
-
Hey Shawn, what would you age this guy at?
-
I'm thinking about 10-11 years old. That thing is a monster - wow!
-
I am counting about 10 rings on the right side....
-
I don't know if it's too much to ask, but I don't quite understand how you guys are counting the rings. What exactly qualifies as a ring and what doesn't. I can see how you could count far more than 10 rings on the right side of this particular ram. Is there any way someone could do an edit to highlight where the rings are to give me a better idea of how to correctly count them? That way, I can compare a side-by-side picture - one without the edits and one with the edits to gain a better understanding of this.
Thanks.
-
9 or 10. Incredible ram.
-
I tried to point some out. Some have 2 rings in one year. They will be within an inch of each other though. I had to add them up by looking at 4 pictures at different angles. There isn't one shot that can show them all with this ram...
-
Here is another example...
-
TOP ten rams in Alberta are over 200" Record ram is 208 3/8 WOW, looks like this one is a CONTENDER
-
One other thing... Sometimes there is a small indent where the year mark is. If the lighting isn't right sometimes I look for that. They get closer and closer together near the base and get more difficult. Then you add in a double ring year and it can get confusing.
-
We have had some rams approaching 200" in WA. If we get the domestic sheep out of Hells Canyon and fix our sheep herd down there we could expect 190-200" bighorns out of there every year...
-
I thought there might be one more between 4 and 5 from the skull :dunno: like you said, hard to tell
-
I thought there could be too until I compared with the horns from the rear angle... I think that was just a good growth year?
-
I think he had several. Incredible specimen.
-
Have you guys seen the Rams from Colorado that live in the gravel pit? Both are over 200.
-
Yes. But I could always see them again... ;)
-
I dont have them but they are in unit 35 if anyone is interested :dunno:
Don't you have those pics shaun?
-
Here are some more pictures of the big ram and a friend. They are all over the internet so I don't think anyone will have a problem with me posting them here...?
-
I don't think I have them saved but saw them on a sight...maybe MM once...
-
Are there any 200" in unit 11 these days? (ID)
-
No. Maybe ramslam can comment on this more because I haven't been through that unit in years since I moved from there. I think the quality has diminished and they are shooting more rams in the 180's out of there these days...
I have heard there is a 190"+ ram or two in our Asotin herd... I need to lay eyes on it to confirm. I know they took a couple around 190" out of Wenaha a year ago also. I am willing to bet Hall mtn. has a 190" ram too... WA holds a few. :P
-
Thanks Pope for the pictures - they definitely help.
-
Huge ram for sure. Pop thanks for posting the info about the rings, very cool to learn!
-
Holy cow, ones heart can only handle so much before shutting down.
-
-
Those are monsters Pope :yike:
-
Has there ever been a 200 ram in unit 11? LOL
Pope was right on that the overall quality has dropped over the last few years. I wouldnt be surprised if a monster was living in those nasty Snake River breaks but I am not aware of anything pushing the mid 190's or bigger.
-
:yike: :yike: :o That is a TOAD
-
thanks :)

BOB LANDRUS NEZ PERCE COUNTY 1996 197 7/8 ***
Is that your relative Ramslam?
-
I might have saw that ram alive in 95 and 96... I might even have an old picture in a box somewhere. I use to photograph them along the river from 93-01.
-
I've got a pic of the Montana Gov ram from this year...195 :dunno:
I'll stop by and show it to you some time Shaun.
-
Yes, a cousin. Picked it up while shed hunting. I have a reproduction of it in my trophy room. Let me see if I can find a picture of it.
-
Ooh yes please post a pic :)
-
As long as we are talking about 200" rams, there were 3 taken from the breaks in Montana this year... There was also one taken in canada a couple years ago and that's the last one. Notice the tighter curl and huge mass. I don't think there is much problem posting them since they are all over the internet... Here they are:
-
Those are some pretty awesome rams. I love the super tight curls on those Canadian rams.

Yeah, but unless I'm mistaken, the last picture - the one with the tighter curl - is the Canadian ram.
-
The ram above the fireplace is a reproduction of the idaho state record. Not a good pic but the best i have.
-
Boy, sure wish my wife was interested enough to put her in a draw :chuckle: :chuckle: Those sheep are awesome.

I think he was on the ark with Noah... :chuckle:
I am in Portland right now with the wife for a Doctor's appt. Could not believe how many sheep we saw on the trip. Are they always there? Have I just never seen them before? Saw 4 herds. Got some decent pics of a bachelor herd. I'll put them up when I get home.
-
I've never seen sheep in Portland. Only strippers and sturgeon...

Are you refering to all the sheep around the mouth of the John Day along I-84? I drove through there on Sunday and saw over 30 head in that area, including a couple really impressive rams. (The traffic behind me was none-too-happy when I kept slowing down to get a better look at all of them...got a few of the one-finger waves...LOL)
I am assuming that since you are from SE WA that you took I-84 to Portland.
-
Sounds like another potential big one bit the dust this last weekend out of the Swakane. I loved that ram. He was awesome. Who knows what another good year of growth would have yeilded. All I smacked withthe truck (a Ram by the way) was a whitetail. I 'm pretty sure bumpin bumpers with this guy might have caused a bigger mess of my front end.

Yeah, gotta be the same sheep. didn't see any real studs, but here are the pics of the bachelor herd. I posted them on another thread too (Oregon Bighorns in Photography).
