I hope they successfully navigate their way into a successful season. I don't have any desire myself, but I would like to see the ESA get back to the way it should be.

$6000 for a non resident to kill a Griz.

Put in this morning.

Can you buy points for grizz like you can deer, elk and antelope? Or how does this work?

Me too.

In it to win it.

no. The regs say no preference points for grizzlies.
-
Trying to figure out if a non resident even has a shot at it.

As I read it, a nonresident will get the 4th, 8th and 12th opportunity in Areas 1-6. There will only be 1 licensed hunter in the field in areas 1-6 per 10 days hunt, to ensure the female mortality quota of 1 in Areas 1-6 (core area outside Yellowstone) is not exceeded. Up to 10 males and 1 sow can be harvested in Areas 1-6, BUT 1 female harvest closes the core area. Up to 12 grizzlies either sex can be taken in Area 7 (expansion area), except cubs or sows with cubs. Three of the 12 Area 7 licenses will go to nonresidents.
Area 7 will definitely have an opportunity for three nonresidents to hunt. Area 1-6, three residents will have to hunt and NOT kill a sow before a nonresident gets a hunt opportunity.

Thank you. That’s exactly what I figured. You spelled it out nicely.

Looks like one of the 22 tags was drawn by one of the crazy anti hunters.

Well, as long as he pays his tag fees, I guess the money goes to fish and game management. He'll be no worse than a hunter that sucks. :chuckle:
I wonder if he's going to carry bear spray. That stuff seems cruel and unnecessary...

Does Wyoming require a Hunter Safety card to apply?

My understanding is that when he doesn't kill one during his 10 day hunt, they will call the guy next in line and give him a tag. If so, that's awesome as he just made a donation to support hunting that doesn't impact the science-based management one bit.

That article wasn't biased at all :bash:

"Trophy" size bears kill lots of smaller bears.. End result will be more bears!

I hope you are right about that. I also hope he is an out-of-stater so he paid 6K... ;) That'll feed a lot of elk that didn't get eaten by the wolves and grizzlies he didn't kill...

Article says he lives in Wyoming, but still thanks for the contribution to wildlife management and conservation. :chuckle:

It's funny as I don't think those libs read the regs. He's not sparing anything, if he isn't successful in his hunt then they call the next lottery drawn hunter. :lol4: :lol4: :lol4:
