I'm in the market for a new truck.
Almost certainly a 2018 Ford or Chevy 1/2 ton 4X4.
Curious if either can readily accept a locking front differential.
I'm about to start more research. Just wondering if anyone already knows the answer.
Thanks,
Dan

Raptor has TORSEN front diff.
Let me know if you’re interested.

Thanks much.
My current hunting rig has front and rear differentials.
The difference is amazing - when you need it - and I'm getting too old to dig or walk. :-)

You know my vote :chuckle:

Ford offers 5 different engine options for the F150. 3.0 diesel, 2.7 EB, 3.3 NA, 3.5 EB, 5.0 NA you should be able to make a truck fit whatever needs you want. I personally have a 3.5 ecoboost and love it, it's a towing machine. If you want better fuel economy the 2.7 or 3.0 would work.

the 3.0 diesel so far is just a mythical beast.
Ford offers an electronic locking rear diff as a $470 option.
-
The 3.0L powerstroke is out for fleet and Canadian customers already.

As I recall, yours was a 2 wheel drive dodge with the V-6????

I saw that. Thanks,
Seems like a fair price for a rear locker if I go that way.
I think I still want a front locker for those nasty places.
My H3 has front and back lockers. The difference is unreal.

Buy what ya want then install aftermarket front diff/locker. :twocents:

I almost got stuck in the 2016 Colorado Z71, it has the G80 rear locker, but no front locker.
I had the right front dipped down into a mud hole, the left front was on level ground and was carrying the bulk of the front end weight but had no power to it, while the back was on slime.
If I had power to that left front it wouldn't have been an issue and kept going like nothing.

I haven’t seen one yet. Surrounded by fords with lots of fleet business day in and day out.

That would be correct

Looks like it's out now but only offered on the Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. Est MPG is disappointing
