stumbled upon this little gem this morning. Not sure how I missed this. Pretty cool footage even though its a little tough to watch.
-
I need to work on my elk calf sounds...
Thanks for posting

Nature is brutal!
-
Is that footage taken from a lookout tower? What was the loud noise?
-
This footage was taken from the bridge just outside Tower-Rosevelt on the way into the Lamar Valley - Yellowstone National Park.
From the actual youtube link, in the description remarks.
-
I *think* it's a bridge in yellowstone park
 That makes more sense!
-
@Whitpirate show the Duvall bear gal this. They don't hunt and eat meat.
:chuckle:
-
Bears kill and eat tons of elk calfs and fawns
-
If it was in Yellowstone I'm surprised nobody jumped down to try and save the calf.
I'm trying to get better and knowing what I'm looking at with bears that one to me looks like a good sized adult?

Nonsense, bears are pretty much vegans, only eat grass and berries

That's why there should be a state wide spring bear season over the counter tag
-
Bears are responsible for 40% of the fawn and calf mortality, coyotes also responsible for a large percentage, especially during birth.

Makes me feel better about the bears ive taken
-
And I should know this, but my bear ID skills are pretty bad. Is that a grizzly, or a black bear? It looks huge, but I don't see much of a hump, I can't tell whether the face is "dished" or not, and the claws seem to be relatively short compared to a grizzly's. So I would have said "black" - but open to correction by folks that know better.
-
That is a color phase black bear.
-
It's a bobcat.
