With the management! Running this show and a bunch of city slickers wishing they could. I laugh out loud watching them trying to out stupid each other at every bend.  The advice is note worthy if only because it’s the best they can do with the limited resources they have.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know why the submission deadline on your wdfw profile is the 31st, but the actual deadline is the 23rd? You think these kind of mistakes would be caught after a few years of this new system. Unless it isn’t a mistake and some people get an extra week to apply. Maybe the wdfw is trying to keep it on the down low  :chuckle:

Something I've heard in the past is that the week after the deadline is for people who somehow missed the deadline, or didn't submit their applications properly. Maybe they bought an application but forgot to submit it. The WDFW then spends the next week after the deadline contacting those people to make sure everyone gets entered into the draw correctly. So maybe 5/31 really was the true deadline, not for online applications but for those who were allowed to submit their applications over the phone.

I don’t think they let people submit who forgot (I’ve been there and wasn’t allowed to submit Spring Bear the day after the deadline even though I had purchased). They do have to go thru checks to make sure the hunt codes on everyone’s apps are ones that they actually qualify for. If there are any discrepancies there, then they will call people to correct the system mistakes.

30-06 springfield, by far. Reasons: for one, i wont argue with the cartridge that won two world wars, and has been killing deer since 1906; two, the '06 has been used on almost all, if not all, big game species in the world; when i go out of state or hunt washington, i turn away from my slug gun and reach for my Marlin XL7 in 30-06

Interesting, but how are they "creating" a program in the middle of the draw?  I am a DAV, but not a "wounded" vet (just bad knees, ankles, ears, etc..).  How does the state know who the "wounded vets" are if those guys haven't registered and verified... :dunno:  Seems like something they would have had to get started before the regs came out in April...

I don’t believe the new program is related to the draw at all. It was/is, however, a system update that took priority over the draw due to it being mandated by the feds and/or state legislature.

I don't understand with all the social media and avenues to communicate that there is now days why the WDFW can't just inform of us of when the draw will happen or if it's delayed.  Other states have set times they do their draw.  Like New Hampshire and Maine for example.  Maine has a full on festival for the Moose drawing.  Granted it is a lot smaller but still, why not just tell us what is happening.  :dunno: I would of got a lot more work done this week if I knew that the draw was going to happen on a certain day.   :bash:

If this is true I am all over that !! Been pushing for this for a year now, we want the same legislation that Montana has for Purple Heart recipients and we want to be able to gift duplicate drawn tags to DVA hunters

What is a "duplicate drawn tag?"

In Montana if a Non Profit that's soul mission statement is providing healing therapy and camaraderie through outdoors activities (hunting) that non profit fills out an application sponsoring a purple heart awarded DV tags issued without a draw process for speed goat and deer even in draw only areas. and the cost to the non profit is extremely reasonable

Further more they have a program where residents can gift there tag to a qualifying disabled veteran showing service connected disabled status, but they have to meet the minimum percentage disabled requirement

I have been working on trying to get the state of Washington to let those that draw multiple tags of the same species, lets say cow and bull tag and we all know you have to pick which one to hunt. And therefore the other goes unused. I have proposed that hunters that draw several of the same species can gift these to the WDFW to hand back out to the DV hunters through programs like www.outdoorsforourheroes.org or TFO

Okay, but first, we don't draw tags, we draw permits. And second, you CAN use all the permits you draw. You just can't take an animal in more than one of the hunts since you only have one tag.

Yes, I do, but I'm just not sure if such a program would accomplish much? How often do people really draw two deer permits or two deer permits in the same year?

Happened to me. Two years ago, I drew quality bull and cow tag. I was excited then I realized I can only harvest one animal still. Then I saw it was even worse for me, the cow tag I drew was before the quality bull tag... It would have been all good in the end if I got a bull (archery) but I ate my tag.

With Washington's point system do you earn this years point before the draw or after you are unsuccessful?

Lets say I have currently 6 deer points, would I be applied with 6 points and after I don't draw then I have 7 points? or is the other way around? If I currently have 6 points do I earn another point for applying and will be put in the draw this year with 7 points?

Is this something in place or already decided...or this is just something you are proposing for wdfw to consider?

In general, I oppose transfer of tags because it leads to abuses...but if the proposed system is managed by the state, and the donor has no control over the specific recipient, and it is limited to verified disabled veterans I could see some value.  My only concern would be if the program started to try and creep.

Man...you sound confident. Another guy on here was confident too (had an inside source) that said it was last Thursday. I know that no one is for sure, but it sure is fun to see the confidence.

Plus the draws are all about speculation and I have a ton of fun with that. "What will I draw?" "Family draw...?" "Friends draw?". What days to take off from work, etc etc.

I've gone through an emotional roller coaster over the last week.  Sunday the 10th I was so excited for the drawing that was absolutely going to occur on the 11th.

On the 11th, I never gave up hope until I finally did.  For the first time in over a year, my cell phone was on my night stand so I could check throughout the night.

On the 12th, I realized WDFW had probably just made a simple mistake and were going to correct it by 10AM in the morning.  When that didn't happen, I began to go into a downward spiral of doubt and confusion.

By Wednesday night, I was at a loss for words.  WDFW was now 2 day past the date that I knew they were supposed to post the drawing results.  This couldn't possibly be right.  What was happening?  Maybe it's a sign - do I sell everything and take up golf and church softball like the rest of the guys I know?

By Friday night, I had finally come to terms with anger.  The incompetence of WDFW knows no bounds.  They're clearly a part of the Deep State and in bed with Comey and Clinton.  WDFW had singled me out and said "whatever it takes, don't let that guy see the results."  With Trump over 3,000 miles away, I knew there was no winning.  WDFW had come out victorious in their anti-hunting, pro-wolf agenda.

It was a long weekend with a lot of deep reflection, working on painting my house, and of course precious time with the kids on Fathers Day.

This good break gave me an opportunity to come to terms with reality:  There will be no drawing this year.

That's what I heard also, no drawing this year and they are going to cancel the hunting season as well.  Give the animals a break.  No draw next year either.  There will be a hunting season but no special permits.  You will have to pick east or west side and will have to pick deer or elk. There will be no antler restriction or sex restriction, just a bag limit of one animal.

@Timberstalker I just realized that if you assign a number1-26 to each letter of the alphabet and apply those numbers to your screen name “R” or 18 comes up twice, “S” or 19 comes up once and “T” or 20 comes up twice. I think it’s obvious the draw is going to be on the 20th since it didn’t happen today.

This year, WDFW wants to provide you information on what to expect during the drawing process, and your ability to view all of your results when we have completed the process.

On June 20, 2018, at approximately 8:30 am, WDFW will initiate the special hunting permit draw process. This process will inactivate your ability to select and see the “Special Hunts” and “Points” links within your account. If you do login to your account at this time, these links will not be available for you to select.

The special hunting permit draw process includes a citizen witness who is a hunter and non-WDFW employee, a WDFW Wildlife Program representative, and staff from WDFW Licensing Division’s Business Technical Unit.  The Business Technical Unit staff will walk the citizen witness through the steps of validating the drawing, and the publish process. While there are 28 drawings that need to be conducted on this date, only a few are selected and validated with the witness during the meeting. Staff must finish the process of validating the remaining drawings before the results can be published.

During the publishing process, WDFW requests you wait a couple of hours after receiving your email confirmation(s) before checking the outcome of your applications. The publish process places a load on the system, potentially causing slowness and increasing the amount of time needed to finalize and publish the results. This is why WDFW is requesting your patience in viewing your results. We will begin to publish the results early on June 21, 2018.

Please do not call our office to find out the results, as this causes the same issue.

Thank you in advance for your patience in this process. Good luck in the draw!

The “Special Hunts” option is back up this morning on the website. I looked at my points and this years draw point has been added to each category I applied for. Which hadn’t been done before today.  All my applications are still in “Submitted” status.  No draw results yet.

That’s what I was wondering. My applications still were in “Submitted” status but this years draw point had been added to my points total for each category. I was wondering if this years point had been added due to the fact I hadn’t  drawn. Even though the official results have not been posted yet.

It was correct for last year. If you drew a tag last year, and click the "DEPT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE - HEADQUARTERS" for 2017 in order history, it shows which tags.

I just wish we could all pay a private firm $100 each every year to run our hatcheries.  We're talking hatchery fish, the feds or the state shouldn't have any right to them and they shouldn't be able to exploit it, turn it in to a cash cow, only to give back about 10% efficiency of what we all expect..Sure Dams and sealions are an issue..but our state hatcheries are running at an avg of 30% CAPACITY.

It states "WDFW Headquarters" and when you click,  states the tag you supposedly drew.
Not sure this is correct, but states the same thing "WDFW Headquarters" with a date in 2017 with the tag i drew last year.

All submitted apps gone except quality buck, and under Active tag it appears with a Document number. Wondering if I drew quality buck with 1 point, and nothing else with 19 points.

I have never applied in another state, but I will assume that most other states do not have the issues that WA seems to have nearly every year. Honestly I am not complaining I am just wondering about it.

It seems like a constant cluster F.

Between my kids and my applications we went 0-17.  That's a lot of times to read NOT SELECTED.
Thank God I've got a combo tag in Montana!

Pretty sure the sort/filter eliminates anything bad from happening.

The opposite was happening too, I showed nothing in active until well after the draw when I learned I had drawn a permit.

Active license did show me what I drew several hours before the results were posted.  The emails on the other hand were a mess.  I only received two emails, both for permits I had applied for but didn't get.  Weird.

It’s a process like any other process, your points squared, then everything put into the hopper and the lucky numbers drawn. If your number comes up, and your full choice is filled up onto your second choice, then 3rd choice. If nothing avail your s.o.l
More points increase your odds, guarantee nothing. As for the emails, they should only send a draw completion email. As for looking at active lic, before results posted, if you see your permit in active lic with a Document number, Walla you where one of the few.

I have 19 point and now 20, realizing 10’s of thousands are trying for a very few tags, lots of points squares besides mine. It’s line buying lotto tickets. No program better then the next, it’s all gambling.
😜
