At This year's Sportsman Show there was a guy (with a stand) that has private property on GMU 506 that charges over $3,000 hunt to hunt on his property and he has pictures i saw of ""real"" 300" to 400" class Bulls on his property that never leave his property. He said some some of the big bulls never leave his area not even during the rut. I believe the guy sounds like a nice believable guy it just sounds crazy to me. Is it common for bulls on the west side for bulls to stay with in a one hundred square radius area all most all of their adult life as he said? I belive him. Is it possible for a 300 class Bowl to live his entire life in a 100 square yard radius on his own accord?

Sounds totally legit you should buy the hunt and report back to us on how it goes
😁😂

Hope you were wearing hip boots at least! :chuckle:

What is a "100 square yard radius "?

He didn't happen to say that he used to operate in the Graham/ Kapowasin area did he? :bdid:
:sry: (Sorry, could not help myself) :sry:
Seriously, if those bulls never have been hunted there and they feel safe, they may truly stay there all the time. However, one or two of them gets plugged, and the gig is up.

You took the words right out of my mouth lol!
To the OP. Do you remember the name of the guide service and the guides name?

Did the discussion mention a side business? More of a mom and pop pharmacy type bidness.
-
I don’t suppose his name rhythms with Dane Darbour?
-
:o

Is it possible? No. Unless the bull is gay. Then, maybe.

Rolling on the floor bobcat! :chuckle:

Highly unlikely.

Well a 400 class Rosie would be ridiculous at 3k I know the governors tag was bought at 36k a few years back before bullwinkle debocal and he was after a 340 on private land on the coast. So ?? Do the math

They'd stay within there just depends how high the fence is

I can't imagine an elk herd or individual animal that would stick around anywhere after the shots start ringing out.
I also can't imagine a guy that would pay to have a booth at the Sportsman's Show that didn't want to sell a bunch of hunts - aka, it's not a one or two hunt gig.
If I could legitimately put people on 300-400" bulls for $3k, I wouldn't need to worry about my normal job anymore.
-
If you had what seems to be guaranteed 300" Roosevelt bulls on your property i would like to think you wouldn't need to do the sportsman's show to fill up your hunting spots. If I found a guy who was able to grow 300" bulls and gave me access for 3k I'd book every year as soon as they opened.
Until hunting on 314 acres got boring.
-
:yeah: :yeah: :yeah:
If you can guarantee 300 class bulls consistently.... you don't charge $3k.

Especially a 300" Rosie!

So for that fee does it include processing and a kill jug? Wonder how many guys looked at the same bulls in the pictures and booked. First come first tagged out. One line no waiting :chuckle:

His Booth was in the upstairs area opposite side of the antler/trophy spot The spot he was talking about is in GMU 506 but it up against Fossil Creek/ Rainier area he said the land has been in his family for long long time the guy had tattoos of antlers on his arms sleeve tattoos pretty nice guy pictures that just blew my mind he said nothin about 653 or any unit around gmu653.

Jenkins or Barbour?

Jenkins or Barbour?
Sounds like where barbours booth was I believe

I've been hunting in that general area for years. I wouldn't be surprised if a big bull spent 75% of his time on someones 20-30 acre plot. But for a 300" rosie to live there and be killed then have another 300" bull back in that spot the next year would be crazy. To have multiple 300-400" bulls in a small area is ridiculous, there are enough cows for the big bulls to spread out and have their own territory. I would never trust anyone trying to sell any type of deer or elk hunt on the Westside.

Seemed like a good guy. He had many pictures going back to the 60s and 70s. He had pics of a few famous people on the land with him. I believe one of them was Jim Shockey and I think one of the Bone Collectors crue was in one of the pis also. idk or can't remember if BC hunted there but there's a picture of one of the Bone Collector members on the property with him. We told the guy we werer not interested in his paying for his provided opportunities yet he did to tell us all about some crazy pictures and stories and i believe he wasn't lying to us but possibly using much hyperbole that i managed to decipher through. SO: what I got out of the conversation is this guy inherited and is now sitting on a situation where he can basically sell hunts, semi guided, full guided and with Lodge. The privet land is butted up against what one might belive is the 2nd best gum in Western WA. (1stgmu6532ndgmu506)With plenty o clear-cuts to feed on at night less than a mile away. $3,000 which is starting rate now I'm sure there was nickels and dimes reaching up to $7,000 by the time he would be done with the hunter. It looked fun if i had the $ i would do it from the pics he showed me.

Run away!!

It's the 506 and from what we have recently learned about the 506 this does not seem far fetched at all.
Second time in the last month we have had solid reports on the 506.
I think another push for state wide elk tags is in order so us eastsiders can finally have an excuse to make the trek over the hill to the wetside.

Run away!!
